  • Anyone else having issues with body battery?

No, it seems the same as ever.

I think this metric is basically nonsense as it's trying fake up HRV data from an optical sensor which doesn't work well, so I don't really pay much attention to it, but I can't see any difference between 15.71b and 17.73 my side.

This is pretty typical, fairly active day. So it works for me (if you believe this sort of thing!) - but then I see power drain from this beta, but not from previous, so as always software changes seem to impact different folks in different ways! Body battery for me - no change, power consumption is way way worse, around 5 days between charges now, down from 9.

  • I was expecting BB to be lower on average with this beta based on the 945LTE reviews and Garmin seemingly rolling out their "more accurate" BB calculation. I didn't expect to have dramatically lower BB values though. I have been seeing maximum values of around 50-75 and essentially have not maxed out since the beta. Maybe this is correct, it is perhaps true that I am never as recovered and fresh as I "could be".  I kind of think it should use more of a rolling average kind of thing, so whenever you get the highest value you've had in the last ~6 months it will show that as 100% and so that even as you get better it would just recalibrate 100% so that you can stay motivated to improve.  BB seems inherently subjective and self-based anyway, so having absolute BB percentages seems unhelpful.

  • Agree, I also don't really look at BB absolute values, but more at relative changes. And before this beta, I could see the rate of going up/down correlated with my feeling of stress. Now it just only going steeply up or steeply down, with much less nuance.

  • I've heard Sleep Scores are finally in Garmin Connect Mobile with this beta. If this is the case, can anyone tell us whether the additional qualitative info from the Widget (Quality, brief summary at bottom of first screen, and longer commentary on 4th/final screen) can also be found in GCM?

  • There's an extra widget on GCM called sleep score as well as sleep. It looks to me that all the watch info is spread between these two widgets

  • Yes, you seem to get all this - in Garmin Connect mobile, you see a page like this:

and you can tap Stress, Deep bubbles etc for more detail as below

  • Power drain is back with a vengeance for me since going to this beta from previous 15.71b - 52% consumed in 36 hour period.

Power snapshot yesterday at 6AM UK time Sunday, pre-run

Power at 8AM UK time Sunday, post-run

and the insane drain has continued all day- now 5% left so it's guzzled 52% in around 36 hours, only 2 1/2 hours GPS time in all that as well.

Looks like yet again and for the 3rd time spanning the Fenix 5, Fenix 5+ and now a 3 month old Fenix 6, a firmware upgrade has wrecked another Garmin, and yet again I'll need to get it replaced. Getting really really pee'd off with this.

  • Getting really really pee'd off with this.

It's beta test firmware, my friend. Bugs are expected in these beta firmwares, and if they make you "pee'd off" then maybe beta test firmware versions aren't for you, and you should stick with just the over-the-air public firmware releases.

The higher likelihood of bugs is the price we pay to get early access to the newest features and fixes, but nobody is making any of us use the betas.

  • and you should stick with just the over-the-air public firmware releases.

Ummm.. public releases have had drain as well..the changelist for the last public release literally mentions a power drain fix.

Not sure what your objection is to me reporting that whatever 'fix' they claim to have done clearly isn't there any longer.....
