  • I wonder if it is doing it as part of the acclimitization, cause isn't it supposed to acclimitize for weather and altitude - and altitude acclimitization is based on Pulse Ox readings.....So would make sense from that perspective if it came on post activity to get readings and then went off again there after.

  • Sounds a definite possibility. So far, hasnt happened again - but the day is young!

  • I tried every beta and stable release in the last year and I never had battery problem. With this beta I've at least a 50% more consumption (no different app, watch face or widget installed).

  • I had the same issue with previous beta 17.72. I'm encountering random battery drain using the watch like always. I think they happened after I completed an activity.  If I use a external watch face, I can see battery going down quickly. So I'm using Garmin defaults watch faces, otherwise, bye-bye battery!

  • Yes, that's what I still see with the 17.72. Garmin's only solution was to reset the watch again. Or to send it in for an exchange. Which is great as they only send me a new one once they've received the old one - up to 3 weeks without watch :(
I agree with the sudden drain after an activity. I don't know why it happens, but if I have a lazy day and don't workout then the watch drains as expected. add a little tracked walk to the supermarket, standard watchface, standard activity window, then there's a sudden big drop.

  • Ahh gotcha. Now I remember! I too reported it around that time myself. Yeah, i dont fiddle with connect app if i can help it.

  • Noticed that myself. Soft reset (holding power past assistance until it shutsdown) didnt help. Whst did help and stabilized the power drain is charging to 100%. I checked both % from watch and from 3rd party battery widget and things are back to normal (for me 0.3%ish/h with my current preferred watchface)

  • But a 25min run or bike ride, gps, minium fiddling with screens, 1 datafield 1 datafield broken, 1.5% seems high to me. Could be beta not optimized like a public relise would be. Havent checked gps accurancy though (unrelated to above statements) i should tho

  • But a 25min run or bike ride, gps, minium fiddling with screens, 1 datafield 1 datafield broken, 1.5% seems high to me.

My watch was at 87% before a 65 minute run, it was 75% after. That's with 2 external heart rate belts (Polar Verity Sense connected to Aux Heart Rate datafield), Polar H10 connected via ANT) + Stryd via ANT. Also with music playing.

It's at 74% now, so no post activity drain observed so far, which I often have suffered from going back to the Fenix 5 days.

  • When I mentioned that my watch has an increase in battery drain after an activity, I should clarify that this is not immediately after. So, for example. Before an activity my watch was about 80%. After activity about 75%. That was about 18:00 - 19:00 yesterday. I went to bed with 74 - 73% battery (I don't recall it well). Today, at 17:50 my battery is at 65%. I use an external watch face until I saw my battery going down fast, then changed it for a Garmin one. In the morning, I opened GCM a couple of times, had one watch face update using bluetooth and looked at barometer and altimeter twice or three times today as the weather here is shite.
