Body Battery Vivosmart 4 vs Fenix 6

I’m surprised the $99 Vivosmart 4 has body battery built in. I’m skeptical about its accuracy. Body battery and find my phone are the only things I use on Fenix. And maybe text messages. All activities I record are on bike computer. Why have a Fenix in this case? Am I missing accuracy in the recovery metrics? Thanks.

  • The Vivosmart doesn't have training and recovery metrics at all, just body battery

  • I know the Vivoactive 4 does not surface it, but under the hood it calculates those metrics as well. You can see it in the FIT files or runalyze. Maybe the Vivosmart is doing similar things?

The Edge 530 has Training Status built in. I would consider body battery a recovery metric… What more would a cyclist need?

My other concern is since the 530 records the ride, how will it talk to the watch to let Body Battery know that I have just worked out? The Vivosmart does not have trueup.

Another good question would be if I accidentally didn’t record a strength workout, will Vivosmart 4 Body Battery still become affected? Will it still detect the workout and shift accordingly?

And finally, I still question how a $130 watch has sensors good enough for a good body battery reading. Would love to wear Fenix on one wrist and Vivosmart 4 on the other to see if numbers differ.

    Thanks.

In techgearlab review, it said the Vivosmart 4 heart rate tracking during a workout averaged 17 bpm difference from their control chest strap. Not good and at that point, why bother releasing the feature if results aren’t accurate?
