Fenix 6 Pro battery life as a Bike Computer

how much battery life can i expect from a fenix 6 pro while being used as a bike computer. I would be using gps, connected to a seperate HR monitor and using this as a speed & distance display while biking (in lieu of a bike computer) . I will be competing in the leadville 100 this year and want to know if this watch can last the full 12 hours being used as described. Thanks in Advanced!

  • this is awesome! thanks for sharing.

  • The heart rate of your bike is interesting...

  • Strange.
My battery got drained like crazy.
    Fenix 6 Pro Solar,
    Suunto Speed & Cadence Sensor,
    Suunto Heart Belt,
    Navigation by Course,
    GPS,
    Moving Time : 5:39:56,
    Total Time :  7:36:05,
Battery Consumption 100% to 4% <- Very disappointed.
Watch Performance overall - very slow - few times delays on navigation.
After a ride - As soon as i plug in to charge for a bit and disconnecting - upgrade kicked in.

By looking on all answers above - i assume something gone wrong with my watch.

  • A couple of other areas not mentioned that can potentially significantly increase battery consumption:

    Pulse Ox.
Backlight - each 10% of backlight can use 1-1.5% battery per hour. 100% backlight on long ride can be a battery blowtorch, and in daylight, you may not even realize it is on. Turn down the intensity, and shorten the duration, or just have it on After Sunset. Navigation, HR, radar, etc alerts can trigger a significant amount of backlight time
The map screen - continually re-rendering the map as you ride along is processor and battery intensive. Leave it on a data screen most of the time, and just scroll to map screen when you want to do a navigation check.

Also, you mentoned some delays on navigation. This makes me think you are using the on-board map for routing. If you are following a course, you should use Bike Settings> Routing> Follow Course (rather than Use Map). This cuts down on processor overhead in terms of calculating routing.

  • Hi There,
    It is since version 21
Since version 21 i face problems with that and with Connection to Suunto Speed & Cadence sensor.

PulseOX is off for me since the 5th day i purchased it, after finding out that watch can't even stand a 3 days of operation with PulseOX on. it is draining battery like crazy - Garmin should fix that or correct statement on Battery life for Fenix 6 series - as they lying / missinforming people by not putting statement ** without PulseOX on.

Backlight using for 8 seconds and only 30% off during activity.  Guesture after susnet.

    for HR using Belt
Alerts - i have reveived maybe 3 messages notification (SMS) as got my phone offline.
I can confirm i had Bike Settings> Routing> Follow Course.

    Today ride :
    50% at start
    Moving Time : 1:48:33,
Total Time :  5:04:05 (Coffee stop - so put in Restore later)
Cadence & Speed Sensor : Dropping connection and not showing any data - even though i knew it was working fine
Cadence = no data (only 2 timestamps )
Speed = Hard to tell whether it was coming from Cadence & Speed Sensor or based on GPS, but have data for that.

Battery Consumption 50% to 3% <- Extremely disappointed.
Garmin annoys me - as never had such a big problems with my Suunto Ambit 3 Peak.

  • That is more less what i had before version 21. ;(

  • Around to 3 to 4% per hour - this is with a Fenix 6 Pro + external HRM + Favero Assioma power meter.

I do not use any navigation features though.

  • Todays's ride  without navigation drained 10%

    Moving time : 17:23:00
    Total Time: 1:51:30 (Coffee Stop)
By the mistake i did not return to bike mode and continued my journey - silly me.
Battery Consumption 100% down to 90% - this is crap.

Conclusion with Speed / Cadence sensor. In previous 2 rides Cadence sensor was connected but Bike Activity did not use it. I tried in multiple ocasion to connect to it - re-synch bike sensor - and when not in bike mode - Cadence sensor was connected. In Bike mode bike sensor was connected - but no data showed. This bug is since version 21.

  • You are right, it is higher with 21.00+
