Fitness Age

Was an independent Fitness Age widget (not the V02 max measurement) supposed to be on the Fenix 6 Pro after the recent update. Only had the watxh 10 days, wondering if I have missed toggling something.

  • Didn't need a reset it's just appeared today. And my wife has it was well (FENIX 6s)

  • Fitness Age went up from 20 to 39 (I am 46). Something have changed. Fenix 6X Pro Solar Titanium with 19.20.

  • Don't have a separate widget for fitness age, Fenix 6 pro still on 16.70.  New age showed up on the app where V02 showed, went to 50.5 from 37. I am 59.

  • Probably just I'm the lucky one. Mine went down from 39 to 36.5. I'm 39 Joy

  • Mine went from 20 to 46.5. I'm 55.

  • Mine went from 32 or so to 55.5. I'm 66. But the interesting thing is it says I've reached my 'achievable fitness age'. Does that mean I can't get better? Wouldn't a higher VO2 max lower it? I'm currently at VO2 max of 46. And what, specifically, changed it from 32 to 55.5? My BMI is 19.6 and RHR is 53, same as it was a few days ago. I don't how I ever merited the earlier fitness age of 32, or why it's now so much higher, whether or not that is accurate.

    • I got the achievable fitness age message as well. Not sure what that implies.
    • Also told me to get my body fat from 26 to 21. So no change in fitness age if I do? RHR 47, lower than yours. BMI 25, higher than yours by a lot.  V02 max is 43.

I use the measurements comparatively in any case, so not a huge deal once the new baseline is established.

  • I feel like the new fitness age is just much more accurate. How can a 60year old f.e. be 30years because of doing sport and maybe a good diet. Not possible. Maybe a 5th of his age but not half the age you actually are. I like that it is more realistic now. But mine hasn't changed since discovering fitness age with Venu 2s. I am 39 and tend to get around 35, with some fat loss and much more anaerobic intensity maybe I get to 34 or 33.

I mean you have to look and live like the soccer player Ronaldo to actually maybe be a third "younger". No thx. :D

But as said since discovering it a few months ago nothing has really increased or decreased a lot. Not with Venu 2s, not with F6s and FW 16.70, not now with 19.20.

  • A new, more realistic algorithm maybe. Maybe some part of the new Venu 2 fitness age algorithm.

Hopefully we get the whole V2 fitness age thing on the Fenix 6 line someday.

  • And what, specifically, changed it from 32 to 55.5?

Previous estimate was based on VO2max hence as a 65 year old I had a fitness age of 20 or thereabouts. Now the metric is estimated using:

I'm now at 59 because I have a high BMI (29) due to being short and muscular. I could lower that with accurate body fat% (around 13%) but I don't have scales with that metric.

    Wouldn't a higher VO2 max lower it? I'm currently at VO2 max of 46.

Yes it would but like me you are likely as good as you are going to get to be able to make any large changes to VO2max; mine has only fluctuated a point or two for a number of years now.

My best changes would come from lowering BMI but that's unlikely to happen unless I lose a few percentage points of body fat that I can't really be bothered to lose.
