Garmin Express crashes (not responding) at launch on Mac Big Sur

I have just updated my Mac to the latest Big Sur release (11.4). Prior to that, the Mac was not seeing my Fenix 6 Pro in Garmin Express or Finder. it could find my wife's Fenix 6 Pro - but then that crashed after a few seconds. I have now uninstalled and installed Garmin Express (7.6.0) four times and now it just crashes at launch and says not responding in Finder. Having left it for ten minutes, it finally launched but won't recognise the watch. When you are taken through the second stage of trying to find the watch (ie what type of device are you trying to add) it hangs in not responding mode once again. Very frustrating!

  • I'm a Big Sur user and mine's working fine. Maybe do a real deep clean install, removing all Express info from ~/Library/Application Support?

  • Running Big Sur here on an Apple Silicon Macbook Air.  Garmin Express works, but it's flakey.  About a third of the time it crashes hard and I have to completely kill it and restart it.  But then it'll do the sync.  Part of the problem may be the USBC to USBA conversion?   I only use it to update the watch firmware so it's not a big problem, but I hope Garmin releases a Universal version soon.
