Workouts for Multisport activities

Spent quite a while yesterday trying to make this work, but couldn't get it to.

I made a Cardio workout and a Run workout on Connect, sync'd them to my watch, and verified that both workouts show up as workout options in the Cardio and Run activities, respectively.

But when I make a multisport activity consisting of Run and Cardio, neither of the workouts show up as options in the workout menu. Garmin website says the watch will not display workouts that are not compatible with the current activity type, so I'm assuming this means that standard Run and Cardio workouts are not compatible with a Run/Cardio multisport activity.

Does this mean that it is simply not possible to load a workout in a multipsport activity? If so, why is there still a menu option to load a workout? And if not, then what do I need to do differently to make a workout that's compatible with multisport activities?

  • I think I'm going to bump this up as an issue I'm having as well. I want to be able to log a bikeride, then a running training (multiple steps) and then another bikeride. From how it currently seems, there's no actual functionality to make such a workout and the workout I have for the run itself doesn't appear.

  • I was going to reply to this thread and say "Ya, it's happening to me too!" then I realized I'm the one who started the thread, 4 months ago Smiley

Ya it's one of those things that probably just wouldn't be used by a lot of people, so either the functionality never got tested, or it just never even got implemented. Would be nice if they could make it work, though!

It would be great for structured multisport activities. What I was trying to do was make a Murph activity. So it would look like:

    1. Run
      -Load 1 mile run workout
    2. Cardio
-Load Cardio workout w/ 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats
    3. Run
      -Load 1 mile run workout

Alternatively, if it only loaded the cardio workout, that would be fine too, as I can keep track of 1 mile of running myself easily enough. But since multisport activities can't currently load workouts at all, I have to record it as 3 separate activities.

  • hehe that's what i'm trying to do but I've hit the same problem. I was trying to create a run + animated strength workout form garmin's workouts but seems it is not possible :(
So only way for now is to make 2 separate activities but apparently it is no good for a load calculation ;(

  • "Ya, it's happening to me too!"  ... I was also trying to set up the Murph but can't get it to work in Multisport mode.
