windows is not recognizing Fenix 6 device

I have Fenix 6 saphire pro. when I connect to a USB port computer does not recognize the device. I tried all tips that found online including reseting watch, reinstall- install garmin express. the watch port is charging but not recognize as a device in file explorer. is there any other way to update maps?

I gave up and installed Garmin Express on a second computer. No problems there – so guess it is an OS / driver issue rather than the watch. Have also had the same problems with certain SD-cards before.…

Looking at it again my problem might be Garmin Express.

I can click on an older model listed in Express, even though not connected, but nothing happens if I click on the 6X.

Under System > USB Mode

Switch to "Garmin"

May be the chipset drivers on the computer. And/or not correctly updated OS on the computer.

May be a dodgy cable - or dirty connections - so it's connecting to the +5v pin (and charging) but not the data pins. Try cleaning the port and cable with a cotton bud?

One other thing - have you checked if the watch is identified in Device Manager?

Hi thanks. the problem is that the watch is not identified in Device manager. Tried two computers and two different cables.

I did that- tried with two cables and also cleaned the watch connectors.

Yes agree. I tried on various computers with various cables. I suspect that it is a firmware problem although I reset and reinstalled the watch

Are you running firmware 16.60? Garmin pulled that version due to issues with WiFi and USB connectivity. You probably should submit a case with Garmin support.
