Fenix 6 pro solar. firmware 16.60 screwed my watch

Charged my watch just before a run.

When talking of charge notice it mention it's been updated.

Then it rebooted. No biggy, just wait for it to boot up.

Notice on the reboot it mentioned it was converting TCX files to FIT files ? That's weird... But anyway calibrated the elevation, set out for a trail run, got about 300 metres and watch rebooted again..

Argh...

Start again. this time reboots straight away... Not good.

Finally next reboot, I went back to trail run, said yest to follow the suggested work out.

About 1km in, notice the GPS track was a straight line.... The distance is not being measured, but my heart rate was and elevation.

After close to 9 kms, back to the finish, stopped the activity, shows just a straight line for the track, I go to save. and it reboots... Bloody heck...

Frustrating, that this update is flaky as hell, but frustrating it was released on a week-end....

Not sure what I can do at this stage, but now need to test it more...

Try a soft reset. Loooonnnggg press the upper left button. Notrhing will lose.
Or make a reset to try it. Its a little bit work, but you lose no data afaik.

I experienced something similar several months ago. I don't think it followed a firmware update, but maybe it did. Certainly I've not had it with 16.60.

The solution, if I recall correctly, was to delete all historic activities from the watch. The problem was something to do with a corrupted file. Erasing all activity data was the fix. Since the data should be in the Garmin Connect cloud by now it should not be a problem to remove them from the watch.

Yeah I had to do that, when they had a ransom attack.

Yeah man, that looks like it did it.

I was using the widget to turn it off and on...

But the holding down for long reset may have fixed it.

Did a workout today, (weights) and not problems.

Test very briefly the GPS seems good, will get a good test tomorrow night.

Long reset fixed my issue with not recording sleep data. No sleep data, sleep respiration, or sleep pulse ox. All worked last night. Appears to be back to "normal". Thanks for the tip! Had tried restarting both phone and watch. Stopped working after update with Garmin Express.

Same thing for me. Took watch off charge and it updated itself. First 400m of a run watch was not recording distance just time. I wouldn't have realised only my music stopped when I hit pause on the watch to wait to cross the road. Restarted and same thing again - paused to cross anther road and music stopped. No pace nor distance just time. Had to power on and off and it started to work again. No issues since.
