Garmin Fenix 6s pro - needs to be restarted after charging for solar to work

Hi,

I have the Garmin Fenix 6s pro. As it goes flat i put it on the charger once it hits 100% i remove it from the charger and the Solar symbol is grey and not running. When i restart the garmin it starts working again showing a red active solar symbol.

Is this a software issue or hardware problem.

Regards

  • Solar charging is disabled when the battery is fully charged. As the charge drops the solar charging will resume (unless the watch has a genuine fault).

Maybe the action of a reboot is sufficient drain on the battery to allow solar charging to resume. There is absolutely no point in doing this. Just waiting for the charge to drop naturally will be enough.

  • Mine does the same thing.  I don't recall it doing this before the latest software update.  I bought it new 7 weeks ago and also since the most recent software update, the battery life is not as good either.

  • Interestingly, i just did a full reset to defaults on my fenix 6s pro solar and set it back up again.  Then i charged it to 100%, and when i unplugged the charging cable, the solar symbol immediately appeared on the watch screen.  this did not happen before the reset...
