Is there any way to replace the battery in the Fenix 6x pro sapphire?

Is there any way to replace the battery in the Fenix 6x pro sapphire? My Fenix 6x pro is way out of warranty, and started having battery problems some time ago, and it continues to get worse.

Went on two hikes today. On the 4 mile hike, lost 40% of the battery power. FORTY PERCENT!  Recharged, went on a 3 mile hike, lost 23% of the battery power. Will be trying it on a 50 mile bike ride soon, and would not even be surprised if the watch died completely before completing the ride.

I think I am done purchasing $900 watches that only last a couple of years. Garmin hasn't effectively even acknowledge that there is an issue, much less fix it in their infrequent updates. Tired of being a Garmin Beta tester.

  • I have a Fenix 6 pro sapphire titanium.  Wondering if you know of a battery source for this watch?  I had rapid degredation with software version 19.20.  I upgraded to 20.30 for two days now and it seems better.  Will be testing but I'm going to get a battery as I think that 19.20 roasted my battery with high drain.

  • and the replacement batteries are cheap ($12).

The battery you linked is a 3.7V battery. Final charge voltage 4.2V. The original Garmin battery is a 3.8V battery. So 4.35V end of charge voltage.

  • The place that suggested above: interlightus

  • Garmin replaced my Fenix 6x for free within the last year when I had a battery problem.  They were very accommodating.

  • The dangers of such batteries should not be underestimated. Especially noname Lipo's like to inflate. If such a battery outgasses and ignites, extreme temperatures and flash flames are quickly generated. There are good videos on YouTube. Be careful. Especially if a battery is installed that does not meet the specifications.

  • That video doesn't really work for the 6x Pro, because the battery connecting wires must be soldered to the watch.  The Fenix 5x Pro is easy to repair as the battery connector just snaps in.  In my opinion the 6x Pro design is flawed from a repairability perspective.  Short of soldering a new battery replacement, the only easy alternative I can see is to replace the entire back side of the case for the 6x Pro from Aliexpress. (On aliexpress.com just search "6x pro replacement back".) The replacements kits include the back of the case with heart rate monitor and an official Garmin battery attached to it.  The cost is roughly USD40-50.  They look OEM but the description suggests they are not brand new.  I suspect they are refurbished or perhaps have minor cosmetic defects.

  • As an EE, I can not agree more. 3.7V batteries should not be used, they will be constantly overcharged if charged to 100%, which together with questionable quality is a very bad combination. They might have internal overcharge protection, but don't count on that. Seriously, if it will ever burst in flames while on your wrist, it will be a very sh*ty experience, because you will not be able to remove it quickly. It is much worse then a flaming phone which you can just throw away.

  • Crap. Well that’s a bummer. Guess I’ll cancel that order too. So basically the options are: pay Garmin $170 for someone else’s used watch that may or may not have a new battery in it; or throw the $900 watch in the garbage after 2 years. ????! Cmon Garmin.

  • in 99% there is a software bug not battery issue. in last 6 mount i have had same problem. you should hard reset and let your battery be full  discharge and again full charge . my battery issue solved after did this prosses after several time .
