The only thing you can do is edit the total distance manually after uploading the finished activity to garmin connect.

My rower have a little dashboard and provide a distance measure. After uploading I edit the activity in Connect Mobile App and put that distance number manually. Not the best but ...

I think that if you would like to know your average stroke length, best way would be to do a test on a machine that has a computer that shows the length and then use that.

Me for example usually takes hard strokes, but low count per minute, so my strokes are in average 10-12 m/stroke, 23 strokes/minute, 1:50-2:00 minutes/500m.
While my wife has a faster stroke count per minute, slower time and shorter stroke length. Usually around 33 strokes/minute, 2:30-2:40 minutes/500m, 6-8 m/stroke

So basically, instead of using a general value, find your personal average stroke length on a second rowing machine (at a gym or hotel or wherever they have one) and use that instead.

Which version is that? What model watch?
