I have a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Solar, and my solar intensity widget has been only sporadically working for the last month or so. Does this mean that my watch isn't solar charging?

Solar charging only occurs when your watchface is exposed to enough light (solar or artificial) to actually produce a charge. Also, if your battery is fully charged it cannot accept any additional solar charging. Those are the two most obvious explanations that I can think of. I would test those by letting your watch sit for a bit in direct sunlight, making sure that the battery is not fully charged at the time, and then see if the widget has recorded anything. If it hasn't, then you likely have a problem and should contact Garmin.
I'm sure the solar intensity widget gets its info from the solar panel, but I need to know from Garmin if it can fail independent of the solar panel? Could it be reading nothing and the solar panel still be working?
You could check the solar display on the watch face itself (if the 6 has that watch face. It might be a 6X only feature.) or look at your device in Garmin Connect for the solar graph.
Just wanted to close this out.....I had an online chat with Garmin support and they agree that this is a hardware issue. I guess if the widget isn't showing any solar intensity, the solar panel has quit working for some reason. This watch is under warranty, so the exchange is underway.
Did this end up being a hardware or software issue? Still have the issue with my fenix 6 pro Solar.
I believe that it is a known hardware issue with the Fenix 6 Solar however they will exchange if under warranty.
Still worth a shot if it isn't.
Thanks, got with Garmin Tech Support and they didn't come right out and say it's a known defect but instead offered me $200 off a new watch at RETAIL price or buy a refurbished fenix 6 watch for $190+ tax that has a 90 day warranty. Based on a discount I could get through my company I could pay the same price for a new watch and still keep my old fenix 6 and try to re-sell to make a few bucks. Kind of disappointing as it seems like a known failure across this model. Thanks agian for the feedback.
