Fenix 6 Series - 16.10 Public Release Candidate

Hello Fenix 6 customers,

Our next beta version for the Fenix 6 series is now available! 

We had to bring in a couple changes, so this software version is our next Public Release Candidate. This means that this software will become a public update, as long as we do not identify any critical bugs in this version. We would appreciate any feedback on v16.10. (Whether you install 16.10 now or wait for the official release in a few days, all versions of 16.10 will be identical.)

Please ensure that you are downloading the correct beta software for your specific device.

Instructions for installation are available below the change log on each of the above pages.

Change Log (changes since 16.00)

  • Fixed issue with courses from Garmin Explore not displaying on map.
  • Fixed issue with “Coriolis Effect” naming. (Only applies to tactix Delta – Solar Edition with Ballistics)

16.10 Change Log (all changes since 15.20)

  • Added step counting to backcountry ski ascents.
  • Improved functionality of navigation features with Garmin Explore.
  • Improved altimeter auto calibration during activities for MARQ and fenix 6 Pro devices.
  • Improved power meter calibration and settings.
  • Fixed issue where podcasts may not display correctly on device.
  • Fixed incorrect translation within “Suggested Workouts” when language set to Czech.
  • Fixed potential crash when sending a Quick Text from inReach Remote
  • Fixed issue with wrong activity types shown when syncing with Garmin Explore.
  • Fixed distance and time values for tracks/routes synced from Garmin Explore.
  • Fixed issue with watch face labels missing when using certain languages.
  • Fixed potential crash when starting a golf round on a nine-hole course.
  • Fixed issue with courses from Garmin Explore not displaying on map.
  • Fixed issue with “Coriolis Effect” naming. (Only applies to tactix Delta – Solar Edition with Ballistics)

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

    • Fenix 6S (base model - no maps or music capability)

    Fenix 6S Pro firmware is for:

    • Fenix 6S Pro
    • Fenix 6S Pro Solar
    • Fenix 6S Sapphire

    Fenix 6 firmware is for:

    • Fenix 6 (base model - no maps or music capability)
    • Fenix 6 Solar (not "Pro solar" - no maps or music capability)

    Fenix 6 Pro firmware is for:

    • Fenix 6 Pro
    • Fenix 6 Pro Solar
    • Fenix 6 Sapphire
    • Quatix 6

    Fenix 6X Pro firmware is for:

    • Fenix 6X - ALL models and variants
    • Quatix 6X - ALL models and variants
    • Tactix Delta - ALL models and variants

    None of this firmware is for the following watches, please visit their respective forums instead:

    Thank you Garmin! For me fw 16.00 was almost perfect except for this Explore problem. Nice job.

    Wrong weekly kilometers on the standard watch face. It has usually counted only running sessions (and not my walking), and I do not do other sports often. Now it shows 70km on the watch face, although it should have been only 42 kilometers

    Upgrade from 16.00 to 16.10 went smooth on Fenix 6X Pro Solar Titanium.

    Just finished a run with 16.10, did not have any audio prompts using auto lap feature. I have it set to give me updates every lap and additionally every 5 minutes, normally it gives me spoken info through my headphones, did not work this run.

    Have rebooted the watch to see if it helps but won't be able to check till next run :-)

    Well, I strongly disagree, because we do not have any feedback from Garmin. There is silence. No way to track status of your issue. Was it accepted? Was it forgotten? A "won't fix" status? Nothing. You literally throw bug reports into space. The users are shouting the same stuff because they are left unheard by Garmin.

    Garmin is the first who is unproductive here. Make the f'king bug tracking system, so that users would be able to track stuff. To vote for the most urgent items to fix and so on.

    I don't have to defend Garmin, nor blame other dissatisfied customers who have every right to report their problems, I just agreed with C.sco not to spoil a thred with bugs, problems or other unrelated things.

    As sent to the beta team...

    What's fixed:
    - Map now properly shows the trace for the course.
    What's partially fixed:
    - Climbs and descent are show after 20-22 seconds for a <10km hike with 5 couples of climbs/descents. 
    - Moving to next climb/descent is quite slow: there's a clear delay that I don't have when reviewing the same route when synced with Garmin Connect
    What's not fixed:
    - Time estimation for the course (right below course title) is still unreasonable: synced via Garmin Explore it tells 29:59.0 for 9.65 km, while via Garmin Connect it's 3:13:12 for 9.66 km
