Music Controls

You might need to remove Spotify, see if that gets your music controls back.

The old skool method of playback always works well - simply copy the MP3 files to the Garmin/music directory via a usb cable. 

is it for music loaded on the watch?

I am having issue control volume from the watch playing podcast from my phone. I used to able to do that on my 5x. 

Thanks guys i am going to contact Garmin today I think. I don’t think it’s really good enough given the watch is brand new and under warranty and see what they say on this, will comment on the forum 

Try this. At least I found out this solved my music issue.

On the watch, in setting, you can choice if the music control will control music on the watch or control the phone.

I select controlling the phone and now the podcast name shows up on the watch and I can control the volume from the watch.

Thanks mate - but does that mean you then need to carry your phone when you run by selecting control via phone? 

Its the other way around. For me, I am listen to podcast on my phone on my run, BT headphone connected to the phone, I wanted to control the volume on the phone via my watch. I have both phone and watch with me for my runs. 

Thanks mate - I would prefer not to carry both especially on very long runs and one of the reason I went with the Garmin fenix 6 is that I could listen to music without carrying phone as well. Will give Garmin a call today hopefully it’s an easy fix and not faulty. I think given the quality and cost of the watch I would expect that everything works otherwise I might have gone with a COROS watch etc

Likewise! Have the exact same issue. Blanks back to the watch face hitting the shortcut or spotify in widgets or freezes when hitting music controls on the main menu screen

try adding spotify as an app, then enter the settings in spotify and find "switch music provider". Worked for me!
