New Garmin Stainless Steel band for the 6s (Quickfit 20mm)!

I have had the 6s now for a year.  It's a great watch and before it I had the FR245m.

The MOST annoying thing that I see Garmin doing, is playing games with their watch bands and not being consistent for the smaller 6s.  If you look, you will see that the options for bands on this watch are MUCH less than that of the standard 6 or 6x.  It's beyond frustrating to say the least and many times I have even thought about getting the larger 6, JUST for more band selection from Garmin.  Which, is silly when the 6s IS the watch that fits me best.

Aftermarket bands.. yes, yes, yes.. I have them all.  LOL.  There is not a link you can post that I have not already seen or purchased.  Some are great some are crap.  The "real" Garmin bands are very nice and I prefer that.  This is especially true with anything metal or nylon.

I actually bought a metal band on Amazon for my 6s.  It came with the quickfit, and at first was great.  Then, I noticed how incredibly easy it was to knock the band off the pins with a slight side pressure!  Compare that to my original Garmin band.. and its night and day.

Then, I did some more searching.  I found that they used to make a metal band for the 5s.  It was the "champagne" edition 5s.  But, of course they no longer make it or anything else metal for the 6s.   I guess they just figured "Ah, no one wants a metal band on the smaller watch"???   (again, SO SO SO SO annoying).

But, I found one brand new on e-bay and just bought it.  It is VERY nice and well worth the $189 I paid for it.  SOLID, and very brilliant in person.  I saved the 4 links that I removed, so when I sell this watch (someday) the buyer will be in for a treat lol.

GARMIN.. MAKE METAL BANDS FOR THE 6s..  and while your at it.. MAKE MORE LEATHER BANDS!  Yes, the grey one is nice.. but, wtf??  the other sizes of the same watch have so many more options.  It's really not fair.  (yes, I know you can buy any 20mm leather band.. and push the pins through, I have done that and works fine.. but I want quickfit leather bands from Garmin, so I can remove them daily for workout bands etc..)  If I never did any real exercise, lol than a static leather band would be fine.. but, the whole point of the quickfit is to change out bands for different things quickly.  So.. Garmin.. let's get focused on making more selection for the 6s.  This is silly.

Anyway.. here are some pics of the 5s Champagne band.  In person it can either look gold, or silver.. depending on the light.. which is really cool.  I love it.   The other thing that is not convayed in the pics, is how well this band catches the light and "sparkles"  It reminds me of my Omega Seamaster band.. I would say the quality is about the same and that is a much more costly watch.   So, for now this all works well.

So in the end, if you want the best metal band for a 6s..  this is 100% it.

  • Feels great.  lol.  No concerns at all.  If I want to go running, I would change to a Silicone band.  But, for the rest of the time this is great.  So, I guess I am not sure what you mean.. All of my "nice" watches are far heavier than this, lol.

Kinda a weird comment.. this is no different than any of the metal bands you would get for any of the other watches.  My whole point to this thread, was there are zero current options for the 6s.. and this is a way around it... there are still many avail. on e-bay.   If someone was concerned about weight, they would not be looking for a metal band at all.  Ya know?  Kinda pointless comment.

  • Try it y GORPIN titanium bands from AliExpress. Yes i know it may sound a bit off, but it's truly great quality. I have had one 4-5 months and it's still as new. And light too! Also very classy to the watch.

    Highly recommend.

  • Thanks very much for this post which I came across when searching for reviews on the Gorpin titanium strap since I've been stuck what to do with my 5s, I bought the official leather strap which recently disintegrated and Garmin's response was tough luck, buy another which given the high price is ridiculous.  I've been keen to get a metal watch strap since it should hold up better to general use and I can't wear the silicon strap as it reacts with my skin but exactly as you've said the options for 20mm are non-existent pretty much so I was considering buying a standard Fenix 6 for the much wider range of 22mm straps.  I'd no idea there was a non-rose gold pink one and even after reading your post I could not find one for sale so I thought I was too late however I managed to track one down and hopefully on its way.
