Temperature on Stock- Watchface

Hi there,

stupid question, but I do not really find valid information anywhere ;)

If I add, the temperature "NOW" datafield to the stock watchfield, where does it get the temperature from? The internal sensor? The weather widget? (what happens, if the widget is not installed? Does it work at all without the widget?), directly via Garmin Connect/Internet and some weatherstation near the phone location?

My old Fenix 5x Plus was only able to display the internal sensor temperature on the watchface and the manual of the series 6 does not contain any detailed explanation....

It displays same temperature as the widget but I don't know if it works without it.

It gets it from the weather from a smartphone via GCM, which must be running in the background

This makes no sense to me: I bought a fenix 6 today, and I have it on for at least 6 hours no, I finished a 1 hour run as well. Currently the watch displays 30.4 C, which makes no sense either way. It's 6-7 degrees too cold to be measured from my arm and 9 degrees to high compared to the room temperature, and 18 degrees too high compared to the outside temperature that any weather related source would report. So where does this 30.4 C come from?

Yeah, it makes absolutely no sense that the temperature of a watch worn externally to the body might be somewhere between body temperature and the ambient room temperature.

So what is this "temperature"? It's like the "watch" temperature that is being used to make sure it doesn't explode during charging? If so it has no useful meaning to me (or I guess to any user), why would there be a widget to display it?

The watch temperature is used to calibrate the altimeter, which is why there is a temperature sensor on board.

In most situations, displaying the temperature is not relevant to the end user, although certainly it will reflect ambient temperature when away from the body (eg. mounted on bike handlebars, backpackers measuring overnight temperatures, etc.
