I've been wearing this watch since July last year, with very view issues.

This weekend however, when i start an activity - it decides to start from a different location - todays was half a mile in the wrong direction.  Saturdays was about 2 miles in the wrong direction.  

Has anyone else had this or know a fix?

    It looks like there was a bit of a GPS hiccup a few days ago for several users.  Maybe your watch is a bit stuck with the error.

    Try synching the watch with Garmin Express or the mobile app to update the CPE file to the latest version,  in case it is out of date or corrupt.

    And/or activate GPS and leave the watch stationary for 20 minutes to soak the satellite positions into the watch. Outdoors would be best, but in a window would probably be sufficient. 

    When you record a GPS activity in future try to let the watch soak with GPS running for a minute or two after you get the green GPS bar before you press start.
