The watch is a computer. Sometimes a reboot can do wonders to fix a small computer problem. The cautious option would be to use the control menu to power off, wait a couple of seconds and then restart. Slightly more aggressive would be to long press the light button >15 seconds until the watch shuts down, pause and restart.
You might also check that Activity Tracking is enabled (steps, sleep etc). Do you get step counts, but not sleep?
After all that, if still not working, I guess options are to contact Garmin support or factory reset the watch.
I believe @mcalista was referring to: if not getting sleep data check: Power Manager > Battery Saver > During Sleep > set to OFF.

So today I updated my watch and was able to get a new face on it. The battery saver was off in sleep mode. It does record steps but gives no sleep data. I will try it again tonight. Someone had mentioned a new account on garmin website which I also did.
ive done everything suggested and will wear it tonight. If it still does not work, then what do you all suggest??
