Hi,
It would be great if I could pair my fenix 6 with the assault air runner. As a distance and speed sensor.
The Wahoo and Zwift running apps can do it so it should be possible.
Thanks,
Pierre

That's now 3 years later. Since, I have upgraded to an enduro 2, great watch!, but still no pairing with my assault fitness air runner. To be honest, this is not a big issue, the watch approximates the…
Yes. Correct. This is why Stryd needs your weight, whereas a bike power meter does not.
Also, because the Air Runner is self powered it requires more effort for any given speed than a powered treadmill…
I just tried with mine. No luck. The watch is blind to the treadmill.
Not a problem for me since I use Stryd. Also, assuming the treadmill could be paired to the watch, it would then be invisible to Zwift/Wahoo, because Bluetooth only supports one active connection at a time so you could transmit to either the watch or Zwift, but not both at the same time.
Stryd solves both problems - ANT+ to watch and ANT+ and/or Bluetooth to anything else you wish to use at the same time. Personally I use Zwift on a laptop with an ANT+ dongle so ANT+ takes care of all connections from Stryd to watch and laptop. Same with the HRM - ANT+ for everything.
With the Virtual Run activity app you’d just pair the treadmill to your watch and then pair the watch to Zwift
Hello, this trick didn't work either, do you have the steps please? I can pair it to zwift without issues but pairing to the watch is near impossible to me. appreciate your help!
I do not use Virtual Run, still Stryd for me, but I don't believe the Virtual Run solution involves pairing the treadmill to the watch at all. My understanding is that the watch will generate and broadcast your pace, basically from your cadence x assumed stride length. You can calibrate this as necessary.
This page and video describes the steps. There is no mention of pairing the watch to the treadmill.
That's correct, I also use stryd but you know the pace is bit off. I had to adjust the calibration factor to 120 and it is way better now. It is easier if we get the pace directly from the treadmill to the watch then we don't need to worry about anything.
Also another note, power is way underestimated, stryd doesn't wok well with any treadmill with incline or with a curved treadmill. I feel the power from stryd is a calculation rather than actual force of running.
Yes. Correct. This is why Stryd needs your weight, whereas a bike power meter does not.
Also, because the Air Runner is self powered it requires more effort for any given speed than a powered treadmill. You are doing the work of the motor as well as moving your legs. I have seen it suggested that the effort required for a curved treadmill is equivalent to running up an 8% incline and pace/distance is reduced as a consequence, by about 20%, as you have found in your calibration.

Unfortunately, Stryd is unaware of the extra resistance of the self powered treadmill, so if you want numbers that match your outdoor runs you need to modify pace and weight (to adjust calculated power) or just accept that the numbers are different and adjust your targets accordingly.
Thanks for this post. I love my Stryd, and it loves flat, powered treadmills and outside running. Stryd does NOT like my Assault tread. I'm good with broadcasting Assault to Zwift and going with that for indoor runs.

To be honest, this is not a big issue, the watch approximates the distance and you can always post edit it with air runner reading. Another thing that bugs me is that the broadcast heart rate from the watch also doesn't work with the air runner console.
