best metrics for athlete???which watch?

I am in search of buying a watch. my main focus is on soccer(football) and i want the running metrics and coach advice and all these things that can help me get better endurance and speed performance. i like garmin fenix 6x pro. but i dont know if it suits my needs. maybe a forerunner 645 music to save some money is better. thats why i need your advice. i dont care about maps. i only care about all the possible metrics i can have for running and the music, so i dont have to carry my phone. Fenix 6X pro if i buy it i will buy it for the looks. i love this watch. But if is there any other watch that suits my needs and is better in this field than fenix i am open to hear it. thank you

  • Hi,

I'm owning a Fenix 6Pro and could't be happier. I use it primarily for running and cycling. I don't think there are any metrics that are missing.  I wear it as my every day watch and the battery life is just fabolous. Went hiking last year in Autumn for 7 days, each day 4-5 hours recording and didn't have to charge it. Music works fine for me as well. Synchronization with Spotify is seamless in my experience.

I can't compare it to a Forerunner 645, maybe somebody else has some input with regards to that.

    Cheers,

    Joerg.

  • There’s nothing worse than buyers remorse. I don’t know why Garmin doesn’t have a chart on their website showing the features that each watch has and doesn’t have.  It would help their customers make the right choice.

the fenix 6x pro stores 2000 songs and the 645 music stores 500. I don’t know how big your playlist is.

I think you need to spend some time looking at the specs for the two watches. Maybe print them so you can compare side to side and highlight  features that are important to you.

  • A comparison can be done quite easily on Garmin's website: Garmin | Compare

  • Unsurprisingly, that link doesn’t work on an iPad.

edit: got it to work in a different browser

  • You can get a 6 pro refurb. I've seen them as low as $500. And they still come with 1 year warranty from Garmin from date of purchase.

  • I own a 645M, but it stopped charging recently. Disassembly has shown that the 50m water resistance wasn’t really - I had been leaving it on for sea dives to max 30ish meters, and one of the usb contacts corroded. I’m waiting for a part to fix it, but also waiting for a fenix 6 to replace it. I was going to wait for the fenix 7, but have been planning to buy an upgrade for years. My advice is to buy the fenix 6 because it does everything, and the things you don’t think you want now will become interesting once you start using a Garmin. Getting literally changed my life and fitness in a way I had never imagined.
BTW the current version is the 745, I think the 645 is discontinued.
