Garmin Fenix 6 pro and Garmin Edge 100

Hello,

I own a Garmin Edge1000, Vector 3.

I recently moved from Fitbt to a Garmin Fenix 6 PRO, thinking the whole system would sync as perfection.

I know that E1000 does not have Physio TrueUp.

SET-UP

Cycle:

E1000 (big battery and screen) acquiring chest strap, power meter, GPS.

Fenix 6Pro (Nothing, but I like that it estimates the respiration rate, and it gives the Training Effect)

Is it possible to integrate the E1000 data with the Fenix6Pro to have a consistent dataset with FTP, training status etc?

What would you suggest otherwise?

I mean, they have all the data from the E1000, it's just an algorithm to run to get the Physio info on the profile.

Thanks a lot for your time :-)

Cheers,

Antonio

  • The F6 is capable of recording everything that your E1000 can so I would record everything on the F6 and E1000 in parallell and then just discard the run on the E1000 when you are done.

The only downside here would be temperature that doesn’t work well from the wrist :)

No need that sync and rely on Physio TrueUp, everything is already there on your watch and in Garmin Connect.

  • Hello Johan,

    thanks for the quick reply.

At the moment, if I log only the E1000, this would not count towards the fitness statistics, but it would if I log the F6.

It sounds like a neat solution (I agree on the temperature side with you, but it's not that important to me), thanks.

If I would use a E1030 (forgetting the temperature), then:

    1) The ride would count towards the general fitness statistics.

    2) I would not need to track the ride on the F6 which would save battery.

    3) The statistics would not give the respiration rate.

    Are these deductions right?

    Thanks :-)

  • I own F6Pro and Edge 830 with cadence, speed, HR strap, Tempe sensor

I record on both when out riding  and delete the Edge's recording when i finish

F6 has every sensor connected like the Edge + a Tempe sensor for accurate temperature(e.g. used for water intaking estimations)

It is stupid, from my point of view, but:

    - f6 is the main tracking device, wearing it almost 24/7

    - f6 gives you intensity minutes, Edge830 not(don't know if 1030 would be different here, but i doubt)

    - f6 gives the respiration rate

I do not like so much this setup but it is like it is.

    to your questions:

    1) yes, except intensity minutes

    2)yes

    3) I think yes

  • Hello EyessOnlyy,

thanks for the reply. With the intensity minutes, you opened a complete new world to me, and yet another fault in Garmin SW. I have been reading about lot of upset people.

I understand that I'll have to use both the fenix (record data) and the edge (able to see). At the end, I'll delete the Edge.

It's such a stupid approach, both devices need to be on, whilst they should be able to share the data.

I thought that going all Garmin would have helped for a seamlessly experience.

    Cheerio

  • It's been few weeks now that i own: Edge 1030 and Garmin Fenix 6PRO.

The Fenix is the daily fitness tracker, and the Edge is ideal during the training on the bike.

I tried to use during training: 1) Edge, then only the 2) Fenix and then 3) both.

For my needs, I ended up going with the same configuration previously suggested. The downside is two devices are using battery, and need to delete one of the activity. All of this can be avoided if

    - The garmin SW would merge the data from different devices to create the Training Status

    - The garmin SW would overwrite the Fenix 6 awful heart rata data during excercise with the more accurate chest strap

    1) The heart rate during training from the Fenix is completely 'bollokcs' ->

    - The body battery, the Intensity minutes, heart rate, stress and the training status for the Fenix will be 'bollocks'

+ The calories, VO2max, FTP etc will be OK.

For this configuration I like that the Edge1030 offers quite a lot of fields, with dedicated field data during training

    2) For this configuration you lose the big screen and the dedicated fields during training. Set turbo trainer is difficult.

3a) Fenix & Edge recording, and delete the Fenix
The 7-day load will be off on the Fenix, but did not change the load focus (strange).
The heart rate, intensity minutes, body battery etc will all stay (because the SW cannot gather HR data from anywhere else).

3b) Fenix & Edge recording, and delete the Edge
The 7-day load will be off on the Edge, but did not change the load focus (strange).

3c) Fenix recording and extend display to the Edge
Completely lost the big data fields and two batteries are draining.

    Thanks for reading :-)
