I just got my fenix 6 as a present: I am delighted, BUT
some of my regular runs include a long straight tunnel of about 700 meters, often twice, as they are two-way runs: I am coming back following the same path.
While I am really satisfied with distance estimate in open runs (even if including some tree cover - but it's winter!), my two-way runs with the tunnel cut the distance by about 550 meters ! or about 275 meters by pass, nearly 40%. This is pretty systematic, which leads to think that it's a feature.
I checked the GPS trace and the cumulative distance of the trace is correct ! Somehow, the software is misinterpreting the signal loss and is arbitrarily cutting some of the distance. There is some incline change, but not enough that any interpretation of accelerometer data would justify this.
If anyone from Garmin is reading this, I would be glad to share the traces and get them to update their software...
