Any solution to solve the probelm with stuck display with "converting GPX files..." during start up / boot?

Brand new fenix 6s pro just configured and after shut down and re-start the watch get stucked with "converting GPX files..." during start up / boot? I have configured it with german language. Hard reset is not possible since in this mode only the "ligh" button allows to shut down. pressing long "menu" does not work.

  • Pressing and holding the menu button was never an option to shutdown so unsure what you were hoping to achieve with that. Might be worth having a look through the Owner’s Manual if you have not already done so.

Since it is new it might be worth resetting it completely and starting again.

    From shutdown:

Press top left, then immediately press and hold top and bottom right together.

Release top right on first sound.

Release bottom right on second sound.

From there just enter the basics and see what happens. Once you’ve started with the basic information begin to configure as you wish without adding anything extra.

If you still have a problem contact Garmin Support (or you retailer if closer). You might well have a defective watch.

  • Thank you. The solution is:

    1. factory reset as described:

Press top left, then immediately press and hold top and bottom right together.

Release top right on first sound.

Release bottom right on second sound.

    2. Start device and make sure the device has the latest SW version installed, BEFORE YOU CHANGE THE LANGUAGE TO GERMAN. Else install the latest SW with Garmin Express. I also deleted the german language package and re-installed it. (This step might not be needed)

    3. Once all updates are done, the device is properly synched. I could change the language to "german". Now with german language i was able to shut down and start the device as it should.

  • You might want to open a conversation with Garmin since changing the language is one of the first options when setting up a new watch. If you had problems changing the langUsage there, Garmin would want to know.
