14.72 Change Log Notes:

  • Fixed an issue where the device was not recovering as expected after being off-course during navigation.
  • Fixed an issue where the device may display a blank segment page intermittently.
  • Fixed an issue where the HRM pro update message flow was displaying the incorrect status message.
  • Fixed an issue where the heart rate graph may intermittently display a flat line during an activity.
  • Fixed an issue where average speed during a Surf activity may be higher than the max speed intermittently.
  • Fixed an issue with bluetooth headset connectivity during activity.
  • Fixed an issue where Garmin “Power Meter” would be incorrectly labeled.
  • Fixed an issue where sleep times may not match times reported in Garmin Connect.
  • Made improvements for post activity sensor firmware updates.
  • Made improvements for Explore navigation support.
  • Regatta timer hotkey now redirects to Sail Race activity (MARQ Captian and Quatix 6 only).
  • Fixed an issue where ‘Do Not Disturb’ prevents gesture backlight from working during the sleep window.
    • Edit, 01/19/21: To clarify, We made this change because the Backlight "During Sleep" setting can now be controlled in a new area. Rather than "Do Not Disturb" automatically disabling the backlight gesture for you, you can manually select what backlight behavior you want to see during your sleep window. Please see the setting options via Menu - System - Backlight - During Sleep. The default for this setting is off, but you can change this if you would like to see the Gesture setting work during your sleep window.

Current beta peripheral software version numbers below. New versions are indicated in red.

GPS: 5.00
Sensor Hub: 8.00
ANT/BLE/BT (Pro models): 6.11
ANT/BLE (non-Pro models): 2.11
Wi-Fi (Pro models only): 2.60

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to [email protected], and indicate which model of the Fenix 6 Series you have in the subject line.

  • I thought it was fine (above) but today's ride is not fine.

Most figures tally perfectly (or within a single digit), even training load, but not TSS and IF. Time in zones also matches within seconds.

So I guess it's not fixed.

  • I'm experiencing some pretty awful battery drain. I've done everything possible such as formatting the device, redownloading and reinstalling the firmware, deleting third party apps and watch faces, wrist hr off, pulse ox off, etc. The device is bare bone at the moment and I'm still seeing 3% an hour. On 13.10 I had decent battery life.

I have to say, it's really frustrating to see how random garmin firmwares actually are for this device. They fix one thing and break another. After a 1 and a half there still are tons of quirks and fixes to implement. Kinda disappointing.

  • Not all of us are experiencing battery drain, it could be due to slightly different versions of hardware in the watches. Turn off wifi and Bluetooth and give it a reboot and then see if there is still drain. If there is downgrade to the previous candidate release and see if it’s still occurring. Then phone Garmin and report a defect and hopefully RMA the watch.

if after the reboot turn wifi on (if you use it), then turn Bluetooth on and pair with the phone and monitor and keep turning stuff back on to see what is causing the issue. If there is no issues trying starting an activity and see if there   With out gps and then one with.

this is the purpose of betas to see the thousands of varieties way us user setup and use the watch. Hopefully you find out and the cause and can email the beta team with your findings

  • Thank you for your suggestions. I've already done everything you say, so it's difficult for me to say where the problem lies.

I also understand that not everyone is having this problem, hence my comment about how random garmin updates are. I've seen many many similar comments about stable firmware releases from other users, hence my comment.

For the record, I'm using the 6s pro sapphire.

  • Still no fix for the compass?...

It's been reported since June last year, that some compasses are out by 90° or 180° etc... depending on where you are in the world.... The temp fix of using magnetic North and using declination, doesn't work for me.

  • I've just had a look inside Strava(from Zwift) and GCW(from Fenix6Pro) at my last 5 activities - TSS is equal in GCC to Strava, with a small deviation of 0.2-0.4.

So for me it seems it's there. I have not checked this comparison before so I cannot say if it was like this all the time, if it's still spot on the activities older than 5 days Slight smile

If you do not trust my words I can provide pictures :))

  • Getting annoyed now! What's even worse, is the wrong TSS and IF are now being seen on outdoor rides. For me, I had only ever seen it on indoor rides. Both commutes to work the other day were both wrong.

And my FTP is correct in GC and on the Fenix

  • I also sent this to [email protected]:

With all recent firmware versions, especially 13.10 and supposedly also 14.72, the activity Backcountry Skiing/Snowboarding does not count any/correctly steps during the ascent. So, with a full day tour of 16km you will end up with just like ~2000 steps. As a Backcountry Skiing/Snowboarding activity is much about “walking” to a summit with full gear, this can’t be right, and I would kindly ask you to look into it. I am sure it is a bug.

This issue has already been reported a year ago: Step counting bug in backcountry ski mode - fēnix 6 series - Wearables - Garmin Forums

  • So you pay a huge amount of money for a device that doesn´t work as promised and you go down to your knees and thankfully pray to Garmin for every fix they release, and that doesn´t always do any better. Fine, you´re a fantastic fanboy!

Anybody who says software is always faulty and it´s ok should do a ride on the original 737 Max.

Btw. Garmin also sells naval and flight navigation systems. In respect to their software development processes (if they have any) I wouldn´t buy any of that. Sorry but I love my life.

  • Well, the latest 945 beta might hold some clues about new features that should also be in the F6:
