HR accuracy fenix 6 pro vs 6s pro

Hello everyone,

I have a question, rather dumb one lol.

Im currently trying out both versions because im not sure which one to keep. My feeling goes towards the 6s because of my small wrist. I also have the feeling that the HR on the 6 pro is not as accurate as the 6s pro. Is this possible of is this just in my head? Seems like the 6 pro is to heavy for me and therefore moves to much lol

Yes it’s possible. A loose watch can cause heart rate errors. I’ve experienced it myself.

It's the same sensor on both devices. However a larger heavier watch is slightly more prone to movement on the wrist than a lighter one.

But the way to address this is through tightening the band to…

My F6s Pro HR is bang on when compared with my exercise bike HR monitor (handlebar) and HRM Run strap. Haven't been able to compare it with the non-S version....

I’m not surprised. It should be accurate when your arm isn’t moving around. I experienced heart rate spikes when I was walking and my watch had slid down my wrist a little bit. It was only slightly loose. I was startled to see my heart rate reading 132 bpm. I moved my watch back to its correct position and my heart rate immediately dropped to the correct 108.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Is it possible that my small wrist (16cm) is too small for the 6 and because of that, the position of the HR sensor is not in the correct position on my wrist? Or am i talking rubbish lol :)

This is most definitely the case. I wear mine relatively loose when not active and tighten a notch or two when active. It makes a big difference to the results where you wear the watch and how tight you have it. However, for best results use a strap for activities.

Yes I believe that is possible. I use a Fenix 6 pro and it’s a big watch.

But the way to address this is through tightening the band to prevent movement, not going with the smaller watch. Like philip, I find I have to have the band 1-2 notches tighter for accurate HR while running than I do for 24/7 monitoring.

In my mind, while aesthetics are important, choosing size should primarily be about ease of viewing the display (especially when trying to read the watch on a jiggling arm in the middle of a hard effort), and only secondarily about how it looks on your wrist.

I know my ageing eyes certainly prefer the display of the 6 over the 6s.

Thanks! im gonna keep the 6, the display and the sturdy look convinced me. The only thing thats harder is sleeping with it lol

You might consider a strap mounted heart rate monitor at some point if you continue to get spikes in your heart rate
