Body battery makes it look like I'm dead

I got the Garmin Fenix 6 pro 2 days ago. Still learning how to read all the stats..  This is my first garmin watch, and first one that does more than heart rate and sleep.

I'm incredibly sedentary and shamefully out of shape, but I like gadgets so I got this to motivate myself to become more active. Overkill, I know, but moving on. ..

The first 12 or so hours body battery went from 50 to 5 and then it just flat lined there.  I'm going to attach a couple photos but....

the first 6-8 I was in bed awake or asleep..  Body battery went from 50 to 30

From 8am-ish to 5pm I was in my home office working and feeling energetic as eff, but still just sitting in a chair at my desk.  Body battery went from 30's to 5... It got to 5 at around 3pm.

After that... Flat lined at 5. It has not moved since.  It has now been about 30 hours since the flat lining happened.   I have done very little physical activity.  It's new years day so I'm just laying around watching TV and playing video games with my kid.

So why does body battery make it look like I have zero energy reserves?

Thanks!

Can you post screen shots with the stress showing?

  • I agree - if you can post the overlay with stress, that would be helpful.

One big eye opener for me with BB and stress was the effect that alcohol had on sleep quality and stress. Given it is just after NYE, this may be a possible explanation (I don't mean to point the finger at you specifically, just that it may be a possibility for some people).

I'd also look at the quality of HR data you are getting - having the band snug and positioned well away from the wrist bone (this is much higher than most people are used to wearing a watch) will improve the quality of the HR and stress data.

    OK here it is overlaid.

Reply.. Take 2.  I lost my last reply.  Ugh...

The last one is from today. I took it off at some point during sleep and put it back on after waking up.  I didn't get much sleep. I went to sleep close to 6am.  And I'm tired today. But lo and behold my body battery says it is charged a little.  Lol makes no sense.

Anyway, I don't drink usually. At around 8 or 9pm NYE I had eggnog with a tiny drizzle of rum. It sucked so I didn't finish it.  Didn't even get a buzz from it.  And we didn't party. We just sat around watching TV.

I've been trying to figure out the stress level, especially since I have not done much of anything these past 3 days unless you can count 2 loads of laundry and cooking Mac & cheese for my son.  I am assuming it is some manifestation of anxiety which my doctor thinks I suffer from even tho I don't notice it unless I have heart palpitations. And I haven't had those in a while.  I don't take anything for it.

Only meds I'm on are for ADHD and high blood pressure.  Maybe this "stress" is high blood pressure... I dunno.

    And my heart rate.....

My heart rate has always been high.. But the above is a special kind of crazy I wish I could say I have complete confidence in its accuracy.

You could try cbd oil and see if your stress subsides... Works for many people with anxiety Slight smile

A happy and healthy New Year to ya bud!

My sister is the family athlete and she suffers from anxiety pretty badly and because of her I started taking cbd oil... But not for anxiety. I took it for adhd.  The funny thing is I can't say I ever noticed a difference one way or the other while taking it.  But I ran out some time ago. It will be interesting to see if the Fenix notices a difference.

  • You might be getting sick. I have similar readings when I'm sick with fever (or after a party).

    All the best!

    1. It happened to me many times, only turn off your Fenix , turn on again and wait...
  • Saw this amount of stress about two days before the first symptoms of my COVID-19–Infection showed up. As you see, there’s quite a big range of possible reasons. But something seems to be not okay, so go ask your MD for advice!
