Here Is How To Test your OHR Sensor

If you are not sure how accurate your OHR sensor is, here is a good way to compare it to a chest strap for testing.

you will need to load one of these two data fields onto your watch...

this one will contain a single data field for the chest strap, so you will have to add another data field for heart rate (for the OHR), so create a screen with 2 data fields.

this one will contain data fields for both OHR and the chest strap along with the difference between them.

make sure your chest strap is "NOT" paired with you watch. Put on the chest strap and add the data field to the activity you want to use, and the data field will connect to your chest strap.

You can now record the activity and it will display the heart rate from both the OHR sensor and your chest strap at the same time as well as record the data. You can observe the data while recording the activity, and view the data in the workout after for both. You can do an overlay of the two graphs to compare the differences as shown below.

Here are 4 workouts I have done doing this comparison....

I am posting this because of some of the posts concerning heart rate issues with the fenix 6. Mine seems pretty spot on for the most part which makes me pretty confident in it.

If you think you are having HR issues you can perform this simple test if you have a heart rate strap. I suggest doing a bunch of activities, and ones that make your HR change a lot (like intervals). If you are showing a big difference then go through the steps here...

If none of that works you could have a defective device and should be able to do an exchange.

Personally I tighten the watch before a workout tight enough that when I spin my wrist back and forth I feel no jiggle of the watch at all, but not too tight as to cut off circulation. I also move my arms in a smooth (non jerking) motion when walking or running. I think if there is a jerking motion that it could cause the watch to lock on cadence and/or go back and forth from cadence to heart rate because it gets confused. But that is JMO on that.

Anyway, I hope this thread is helpful to folks that are having issues, and if anyone does these test, feel free to post your results here so it can help others.
