Storm alert on Negative barometer change

Hello Garmin,

I have been a long time Fenix user, now on Fenix 6x and one setting still have yet to change, I would like to setup up Storm Alert on Negative Barometer change as it might indicate an approaching storm BUT there is ZERO storm on planet earth follow a Positive Barometer pressure change as a positive barometer pressure usually indicate a Good Weather, not a storm.

In general, a falling (Negative) barometer indicates the approach of a storm.

Can Garmin change the storm alert to add option just to select Negative Barometer pressure change?

The storm alert on Garmin devices only triggers, if the barometer is falling (according to the preset value for it). Usually a storm is displayed with falling barometer values.

Not sure I follow. It sounds as though you think the current settings are to warn of a storm if the pressure is rising fast. They aren’t; the setting is for how fast the pressure must be falling to trigger the alarm.

That said, I’ve had it turned off for ages, so for all I know it might be reacting to fast positive changes too...

You can read this short article about the relationship between a storm and Negative (falling) air pressure. Rising air pressure indicate zero storm, no storm, rising pressure usually indicate a good weather with zero storm.

The settings are negative deltas.

I'm well aware of that. My point, as D_Estes also says, is that the values you can set are fall rates - how fast the pressure has to be decreasing to trigger the storm alert. I was trying to be tactful about pointing this out.

Sorry, one more question - are you saying that your watch triggers storm alerts when the pressure is rising?

Last time the storm alert pops up during a nice sunny day so I thought it was set for both positive and negative value. I need to check when it pops up again next time but if you turn it off for ages, then it does not matter much anyway.

The key word here is usually. This is normally the case, but not the rule. It may be a coincidence, but your link is to the Seattle PI, so I'll assume you're from this area and you'll be familiar with Puyallup. Just late yesterday afternoon the pressure was 30.09 inHg and our typical mist/drizzle for this time of year. By 9PM the pressure rose to 30.12 and we had a downpour that even interrupted my satellite TV reception. Check it out yourself. As far as the storm settings go on the watch, Garmin just says a change in pressure will trigger the alarm based on your settings. I have mine set for .118 inHg per 3 hrs and I get alerts when the pressure rises past this setting too. I hope this helps out.
