Switch map details

Have you enabled the maps? Can you tellu us the map names on your watch? In which country are you located?

You need to set the Topo map that you want to use either as the System Default (and disable all the others), or set the required map for each individual Activity, otherwise you will just get the Garmin supplied map as the default...

I have world wide dem, topoActive north America, ski maps, topoActive central america. But the pro is advertised go come with the USGS topo maps and the picture they have on all the advertisements and websites aren't not the ones I view. All I see are very basic details of roads, but no service, other trails, etc. It has my route and basic topography. Nothing close to an actual USGS map. I live in the US. Maps are enabled and I can view them. 

I'm trying to view route plans on the watch. I haven't actually got to the trail head and started to record. Does that mater?

Map theme is popular. 

The TopoActive map is the most detailed one that Garmin supply pre-loaded on the Fenix. The US map has contours, and what you see will depend on the Detail level you have set, as well as the Theme in use. Try setting the detail level to High and setting the Theme to NONE (each theme will change the way the map is displayed, including detail, colour, etc.)

Hi - sorry for the dumb question but how do you set the default map and disable other maps on a Garmin Tactix Delta? Thanks in advance for your help.

Start an activity, e.g. "hike", press the middle left button to access the settings, go to "hike settings", scroll down to "map", enter "configure maps". You should see a list of maps installed on your watch. "worldwide DEM Basemap" should always be activated, + the map you'd lile to use. The watch doesn't prevent you from activating multiple maps, but I don't know why one should do that - except you have a dedicated overlay map. You have to do that once for every activity. E.g. you might want to use different maps for hike vs bike activities. 

Thanks. By activate - do you mean selecting the map - indicated with the green bar on the right? There doesn't seem to be a select or enter or done button. I select it with the green bar and then the only option is to press back to exit the menu.

Yes, if the slider/bar is green the map is active for that activity profile, if it is grey then it is not active and won't show for that activity.
