Fenix 6Pro Notifications on Android 11(OnePlus 8Pro)

Hey Guys,

I'm curious if(and how many) you have issues with the phone notifications sent on the watch since switching to the Android 11 based phones.

For me the notifications were spot on, for the selected apps before Android11.

Now it's a total mess. Some notifications are not sent at all. Some are never cleared - i can still see the notification count on the watch face even after clearing it from the phone.

On Facebook Messenger, very often the notification is shown on the watch no when i receive it but when i actually clear it from the phone.

Some apps(e.g. LiveScore) are sent today without an issue and tomorrow no notification at all. Same with the incoming Outlook emails - some are visible immediately, some not at all.

I had these issues with FW 12.20. And also with the latest beta 12.77. I do not remember if it was the case also before 12.20, but it might as well be the case.

I do not know who to blame, watch sw or android 11 sw. The first idea is to blame the Android update.

It's already a month(or more) since i have these issues and becomes more and more annoying.

I have a OnePlus 8 Pro running Android 11 and I agree it is a mess :-) The most common problem is that the oldest notification is the one that pops up on the watch.

I don't think it changed with Android 11, it has always been a mess. Sometimes better and sometimes worse, I think that it is a bug in the Garmin Connect App that doesn't manage the queue correctly or bugs in the watch FW. When looking at the notifications on the phone it looks ok.

well, for me it was ok, almost perfect before A11.

Now it's a total mess.

E.g. for Facebook messenger - i receive a new message, the pop-up bubble is shown on the phone. No watch notification.

Then i open the notification and the watch gets it too. Or if just clear it, without opening it then the watch shows the notification.

For the notification counter which still shows some numbers after i clear all on the phone - if i restart the phone then the notification counter is cleared too.

So i have a feeling it's somehow related to the Oneplus OS based on A11 and it's notification process.

I also have issues with android 10.1 - I miss many phone notifications (they are selected from GC menu) - only Gmail and SMS are ok.

I've just cleared cache, cleared storage and uninstalled GC on my phone.

I've reinstalled the app and configured all apps to sent notification.

First impression - just got a facebook chat message. watch showed it. Then i read it and cleared it from my phone - watch showed it again !?!?

Notification counter still shows one notification, even if all are cleared from the phone.

Total mess.
