Garmin Fenix 6 pro needs bluetoot unpair/pair often

Hi, I have a Fenix 6 Pro and since some weeks now I have a connection problem.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 with Android 9.

The software version of my Garmin Fenix 6 pro is: 12.20 (1adc946)

ANT/BLE/BT: 6.11
sensor hub: 8.00

What happens is the following: I am able ALL the time to pair the watch to my phone but after some time (usually 3 hours or so) when I go back to the app it does not recognize anymore a connection with the watch. I tried to:

- restart phone

- restart watch

- enable/disable airplane mode

nothing works. The phone is not able to see anymore the watch.

The only thing that works is the following:
- I go in the bluetooth options of my phone

- I unpair my fenix 6 pro

- I pair it again (it shows 6 numbers on my watch and I enter them in the popup window of my phone)

- the phone connects to the watch and the watch is shown in the garmin connect app

Could you please let me know how to solve this problem more permanently. I think that it is not normal that I paid that much for a watch and I am not able to have a stable connection with a phone which is 2-years old.

Thanks for your support.

  • I still have the same problem. Could anyone help?

  • Today I tried "delete data and reset settings" on the watch. Maybe it will help. I will come back here in few days to let you know if the problem persists.

It would be nice to have some help from Garmin support though.

  • It did not work. I still have the same exact problem. I contacted Garmin via email today, I hope they will answer. I am really disappointed so far!

I will try also another thing, to uninstall/install the Garmin Connect app on my phone.

I have the same problem like you.

    Garmin told me to

1.) Delete the watch in the App
2.) Delete the Watch on the Phone in the Bluetooth Settings
    3.) Delete the App
    4.) Restart watch and phone
    5.) Re-install the App
6.) Connect the Watch via the App (not the phone) and do the set-up.

It helped a bit (the phone remembers the watch in the Bluetooth setting), yet, I need to reconnect app and watch manually constantly. So annoying.

I will contact them tomorrow again.

    Hi.

I have the same problem with the bluetooth connection to my mobile phone.  My fenix 6 pro is new and up to date software has been installed since buying the watch.  My samsung A41 is operating well with all other bluetooth connections and Garmin Connect is installed and up to date.

The bluetooth connection is disrupted whenever the telephone loses line of sight with the watch and a new code has to be entered on the telephone screen in order to reconnect.  This has become tiresome and as mentioned, it is very annoying and probably drains the battery.  A big disappointment for what could be a fantastic watch.

I have already spent many hours over the last few days researching the issue and have tried all of the published remedies I have seen but nothing has cured the problem.  Please, Garmin Support, let us know how to permanently connect to my telephone's bluetooth.

    Many thanks.

I have a Samsung A41, too, and bought my watch just 1,5 weeks ago.

Before that, I used the Forerunner 735 (three different models … don't ask) for years and never had any issue.

If I find a solution, I will let you know. :) And please, let me know, if you find a solution.

I have just read the post on the fenix 6 forum about software update to version 13.0.

The new update includes 12.2 up to 13.0.  My watch is updated to 12.1.  In the new software update there is an item relating to 'pairing flow' and the update, although not fully explained, may fix the issue we are encountering.  The update is available for download but as yet is not officially released.

You can install the update and the instructions are linked via the forum post.

I'm not so brilliant at tech stuff so I'll wait until the update is released in the normal way and install it then.  Fingers crossed that it works.

    Cheers.

  • Thanks all for your answers, keep reporting here if you find a solution. Garmin still did not get back to me. Yesterday evening I had the same problem, I was tired and did not want to pair again the watch to the phone. Went to sleep and this morning is working. It is really annoying. I will let you know if it continues to work. Otherwise, I will try  solution.

  • You contacted garmin via Email at the weekend. So it will take perhaps some more days, before you will get an answer.

  • Yeah, sure, mine was not a complaint (maybe it sounded like one, I am sorry).
