Any solution to the left wrist / earbud issue?

I bought Bose earbuds about a year ago.  I've had the fenix 5 and now the 6.  Both drop our regularly.  It got so bad I gave up using them.

Just bought the jabra elite active 75t, same issue.

If I wear my watch on my right wrist, no problem.

Not sure why, but I find it super uncomfortable to wear it on my right wrist.

Any way to increase the strength of the connection?

  • The connection is via LE (= low energy) bluetooth, and this is by design to save energy both for the earbud and the watch battery. Only one of the earbuds (the right one) connects to the watch. So if watch and earbud are on opposite sites, the signal has to go through a substantial part of your upper body. This attenuates the bluetooth signal. I have the Jabra elite sports and observe the same issue. I also usually wear my watch on the left side, but when using earbuds I change to the right wrist. I think there is no other solution. You could try to find out if there is an earbud manufacturer that uses the left earbud as the main one, but the standard seems to be the other way round.

  • With Samsung Galaxy Buds the default connection appears to be to the right hand bud and the problem is similar, at least when I last tried with my 5X+. However, I discovered that by removing only the left bud from the case and closing the lid, then connecting just the left bud initially to the watch, the right hand bud could then be removed from the case and added to the mix afterwards. This allows the left bud to be the master connection bud and the problem disappeared. It needed the same procedure every time though. It was not a permanent switch.

Maybe this trick can work with other brands, but I don't have any others to try.

  • here is what i do with my samsung galaxy buds, you can try it on yours.  i take out the left bud and close the case with the right bud still in it. then i connect my watch to the left bud. after the left bud is connected and playing i take the right bud out. this forces the left to connect first and it stays that way. this solved the problem for me

  • Get airpods pro.  No issues with watch on left wrist.

  • Which model of Bose?  I have the Soundsport Free's and haven't had any problems.  It could be related to your running style since it happens with different brands if your left arm swings back further or longer than most?

  • That really helped :-) finally found a solution :-) because my cheap China Buds worked flawless with the Watch, maybe they connect the left one first

  • From another forum member, but it seems to be working for me. I have the Jabra Active 75t.  I didn't want to wear my watch on the right arm since it's a PITA to change the setting to reflect this before and after each run.

I've a Fenix 6X Sapphire, so I can only share ANT/BLE/BT update file for this modell, but if you have Fenix 6X Pro or Solar it's the same.

    /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/431/ANT_5F00_BLE_5F00_BT_5F00_v504_5F00_Backdate.zip

    • Connect your watch with USB to your computer
    • Open the watch storage and to to GARMIN \ REMOTESW folder
    • Download the file above, extract it and copy the GUP3293.GCD file to your watch into the GARMIN \ REMOTESW folder.
    • Unplug the watch from your computer and the update notification will pop up for ANT/BLE/BT 5.04.
    • Complete the update, restart the watch and you can try the headphone.

If you decide to roll back and it works and you wan't to keep this state, go to the watch settings, SYSTEM, SOFTWARE UPDATE and disable the automatic update, because it will continuously update it back to 6.06.
