GPS time zone map refresh/update (issues w v25.00)

Hi, I've got the following issue: I'm in Morocco (Laayoune) for work and when syncing watch with GPS it picks up my timezone as UTC+12:16 (yes, sixteen) which is totally wrong and also the date is wrong. Sunrise sunset maps are also wrong, even when synced to my phone.

I've managed to Google so far that there is some time zone map which could be updated?

Does anyone know how to fix this on my Fenix 6x pro as it annoys the hell out of me?

Thanks

Victor

  • When was the last time you connected your watch with USB to your computer running Garmin Express on the computer?

There was a Time Zone Map update through Garmin Express available a few weeks ago - if available for your watch/region, it will show up in Garmin Express.

Hey thanks for replying. Last time must've been mid this week (just when I arrived to Casablanca), as I tried to find the missing maps for Morocco/Western Sahara.

Also I'm keeping up to date with every public beta available, and I'm literally in the process of installing 12.77 on it.

Okay so I've managed to downgrade the gps time zone map (gmaptz.img file) to version 22.00 and it seems that the time sync has gone back to normal.

So then it appears to me that there is something wrong with the version 25.00 which Garmin Express is trying to autoupdate my watch to.

Okay so here's an update after battling my watch for almost two hours.

The issue is definitely with the newest version 25.00 which garmin Express is offering to install.

Once v25.00 is installed and time is synced, the watch picks up my timezone as "Casablanca UTC+12:16". Which is obviously wrong oh so wrong.

When downgraded to v22.00 and after sync, the timezone is "Average power UTC +-00:00". Which is, again, wrong (supposed to be UTC+1), yet at least not miles away from reality, with sunrise/sunset times 1 hour ahead.

update: version 23.00 which I've managed to source has the same issue. So anything above v22 for me. I can't find the changelog sadly, so can't deduct what happened there.

Can someone from Garmin look into this?

Okay thanks I shall report tomorrow or maybe at least after having something to eat lol. Spent like 3 hours troubleshooting this. Even got my mate to send me his file over, still no luck.
