running on treadmill doesn't give any updates to training status and vo2... will having a food pod fix this? i already have HRM strap which doesn't give any feedback running indoor.

You might get slight updates - what triggers the updates I do not know.
But Garmin has so far been too lazy to implement FirstBeats treadmill protocol. FirstBeat have it in their documentation - but Garmin…
well that's not entirely true. you need to have a gps signal to get vo2 updates OR power. i get vo2 from my smart indoor bike because it has power meters at the cranks. so with a foot pod providing running…
will upgrade to apple watch next buy.
Yeah because that makes total sense.
You need to have a GPS signal in order to get Vo2 Updates. Threadmill profile does not calculate Vo2Max

We have so many great options for getting the correct distance from the treadmill - but I have asked for implementation for the last 5 years at least and nothing happens.
Footpod (Stryd) or NPE RUNN provides better distance measurement than Garmin GPS outdoors. It would be trivial ! to implement the indoor status/Vo2 max calculations.
Overall Garmin is still far far behind on Indoor training devices - and I had hoped that maybe COVID would help change that.
So write your "Garmin Ambassador" :) and request better support for Indoor training machines.
Thanks for the answer... it's really annoying by garmin not to do it.
I used to run outside all the time but with covid19, bought treadmill and now the watch is mostly useless... probable the last time buying it, will upgrade to apple watch next buy.
