First-time Fenix 6 Pro owner - Only 4 days of battery without much usage?!

I bit the bullet and bought a Fenix 6 Pro 4 days ago. I charged it to 100% when I got it out of the box. Then after setting up, updated it to 12.10. Then installed the Crystal watch-face (https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/9fd04d09-8c80-4c81-9257-17cfa0f0081b)

So far I have done only 2 run activities, 50 mins and 1 hour 20 mins (I used Navigation and Course feature though). Today it asked me to turn on the battery saver since it reached to 10%

I was a bit disappointing though. The watch claims to have 14 days of battery, and one of my friend who owned a Fenix 6 Pro said that he charged it only once a week, and he's doing an Ironman soon so he's doing run and ride every day for at least 1 hour to more than 3 hours.

Is 4-5 days normal for my usage? or did I get a lemon? I haven't owned the watch for more than a week yet.

  • Have you read the manual?

Did you search the forum? Have you read through the similar posts about this?

Have you turned off Pulse Ox?

  • 12.10 ?, do you mean 12.20 ?

Why does everybody feel the need to download watch faces ?.

Surely when you buy a complicated computerised bit of kit you check it out first of all.

    charge it to 100%

    configure it

    Check the time is accurate

    Check it pairs to phone

    Check wifi connects

    Check barometer is working

    Check altimeter is working

    Check compass is working

    Check GPS is working

Check battery drain while idle over 24 hours.

    etc etc etc etc etc.

Once you have basic confidence that the device is working as expected, go do a known distance walk, say 6 miles that you can compare against a map, that should let you know if the activity tracking is accurate for time distance elevation profile etc etc.

I use my Fenix 6x sapphire for navigation backup on places like Dartmoor and the lake district etc, so I want to know whether it works or not, its important, at night or in low vis fog.

Is it just me or doesn't everybody check the devices out properly ?.

The last thing I would ever do is download 3rd party software until I knew it was all working properly, but that's just me.

  • Hi - I just got mine too. Pulse Ox more than halves the forecast battery life. Either switch Pulse Ox to Sleep Only or Off altogether and you'll see 14 days forecast battery life. Obviously running and riding and music and so on will use it up quicker, but Pulse Ox on all day really sucks the juice.

  • I do 1 hour of weightlifting every 2 days and go running in weekends.

I have all the bells and whistles on, including OX and sleep tracking.

Mine last about one week even though the watch says 10 days.

Remember GPS uses quite a lot of battery compared to other features, that's just natural.

  • Turned Pulse OX to Sleep Only and battery drain slows down noticeably.

  • Pulse OX to only sleep and screen brightness to around 20% should give you around 9d of battery... of course if you run 2-3 times a week, those 9d will come down eventually to around 6-7
