Screen brightness Tactix delta solar

Just received my Tactix Delta Solar but the screen is really dim. Is there a way to increase brightness?

  • The Fenix is a GPS sports watch, and as such, the display is designed to be readable in direct sunlight. For darker indoor conditions, you may need to use the backlight. This is the reverse of what most people are used to with their phones which are great indoors, but require battery-sucking backlighting to be even vaguely readable outdoors.

System> Backlight> Not During Activity> Gesture = On (or After Sunset) is probably the most useful, as the backlight will automatically come on when you turn your wrist to look at the watch. Most people find 5-10% backlight is all they need.

  • Agree. I had a Samsung Active Watc2 that was beautiful and bright indoors, but so hard to read outdoors.
vs the Tactix Delta Solar gets easier to read the more sunlight there is. It's fantastic on that regard, really.

  • Hello,

I too have the TDS. Is there a Watch Screen you recommend for indoor use. Analog and/or Digital?

    Thanks,

    Michael

  • I find big, bold digital typefaces easiest to read indoors. High contrast white/black (colors are fine but save them for accents that you don't absolutely need to see at a glance), not a lot of tiny data fields or complications.

Most of the time when I glance at my watch, it's just to tell the time, so that's really the thing that should stand out the most in dim light. If I need to check more specific metrics (steps, date, temperature), I'll look more carefully at the screen and don't mind if I have to make it more readable with the backlight.

  • That makes the most sense K2.  Thanks for the feedback. Will look at some rather large Digital Displays in the Garmin Connect IQ Store.

I really like my Garmin Instinct. Viewable without backlight indoors and out  as long as it is not complete darkness.  Thought I could put the Instinct away after purchasing the TDS. Not the case. I use them both equally it seems.

  • I don't know what it's called, but it's analog watch face with Tactix spelled out just underneath 00 (top of screen), and you can set up your own custom complications. I have date on the right, Days of batt life on the left, and wide min/hr hands hollow interior (better contrast), with a red second hand.  Oh, and the UTC sweeping hand, too.

I will try to add the solar intensity complication, but not sure this watch face has thiat option.

  • Yes Tone Loke, that is a very nice looking Watch Face. And very easy to read. Good choice. I need to go in and set-up my own parameters.

    Thanks,

    Michael

  • here's a pic of it in action. I'd love to add in a solar intensity graph or status somewhere on the watch face...

(backlight on, in a low light evening room)

  • Yeah. That’s the one I chose. I really like how you made the UTC Red. I will do that too. How long have you had your TDS? Still looks brand new. I am keeping an eye on my DLC Bezel. Heard reports of it showing signs of wear after a while.

  • it is about 2 weeks old. Took it out on some training exercises and I am sure I scraped it against metal here and there, but I am already planning on damage to the bezel, as I have done to all previous watches. Sorry I hijacked this thread!
