Battery Drain on Fenix 6X Saphire with firmware 12.20

I have battery drain on my new Fenix 6X Saphire which I have had for a couple of weeks.

Within last 18 hours the battery percentage is down 23 % even though the watch was in power save mode for 7 of these hours with just about everything turned off as I do not wear the watch at night anyway.

This is the built in watch face that I currently use:

Garmin - Let me know what you need of info from me like logs and stuff.

I am thinking of downgrading to previous firmware version but I would like to help fixing this to help solve this in the next firmware version.

  • re CIQ versions: I am building my apps, WF, widgets for CIQ 3.1 to keep it compatible with slightly older devices, but when I need CIQ 3.2 features I am checking these features availability via coding technics. Is it your question?

  • as I said, I've had the fenix 6x since the end of August 2019. I ONLY use WF with seconds. Around the clock. I never use power saving mode. My consumption with a build in WF with sseconds is about 0.12% - 0,15%/h  It hasn't changed for me

  • ohhh, it started with fw 12.20, what is the reason to to mention Aug 2019?! POWER Saver mode is also different story. Please reread my post one more time.

  • I've triend all possibilities, all made with an hard reset:
    -installing 12.20 with web updater.
    -Rollback to 11.10
    -installing beta 12.10
    -Installing beta 11.76
-installing on the various versions of FW the sensor hub 2.53 beta
-installing on the various versions of FW the sensor hub 8.00
-using not paired to a cellphone

Under no circumstances, the huge battery drain is solved. Always about 30-40%/day in watch mode.

  • t started with fw 12.20, what is the reason to to mention Aug 2019?!
    1. Yes exactly. I've had the watch for over a year. And every day with Always on seconds. No change in battery performance for a year.
    2. still not.
  • 6Pro since August 2019.

No issue until 12.10RC and 12.20 then huge battery drain after an activity.

    No CIQ add-on, no music.

Soft reset seemed to cure the problem for some time....

For the last 2 weeks, not a single issue, 13 days autonomy (HR, BT, 1 hour activity, power save at night).

I thought the problem had gone away.

This morning bingo 12% battery drain per hour!!!!

  • Saver mode is also different story.

Maybe this could be the reason? I have never put the watches into any battery-saving mode so far. I didn't even bring up the menu for it. Never. Just a guess. Maybe there is some wrongdoing when switching between modes? Why do you have the problem and I don't?

I'm sure I'm wrong, but I wonder about it.

    just my two cents

  • I am also suspicious for " ... 12.20 then huge battery drain after an activity.".

There is not enough collected info, but it seems some correlation 'crazy batt eating mode' happened after an activity finished. At least it happened twice exactly after I have completed my outdoor run. Going to pay some extra attention to it.

  • My watch going to Battery Saver every night, but accidentally batt drain happened since fw 12.20.

As I have stated above, when watch going to "crazy batt eating", ANY WF updates each second. Even WF with no second hand, and this is what Garmin SW engineers should check first.

  • ANY WF updates each second.

As I wrote, I've ONLY been using watchfaces for over a year, which update every second. Around the clock. My battery usage has stayed the same.

therefore I can tell you that I can rule out "every second"  FOR ME as a battery eater.

I know CIQs that use 2% / h. But I am referring to the build in watchfaces. For me, an update every second is no problem.
