How to reinstall 12.20 via Web Updater

After using the Web Updater and sequentially performing all the steps, pressing the Finish button and disconnecting the watch, I have no prompt about New soft install or any other massege... same after restart the watch? Is this the whole process or am I missing something ... GE is completely stopped in background!

  • I just reinstalled 12.20 via web updater. Had no issues. It's possible your AV may interfere with the process and some bloggers recommended turning AV off during the process. I didn't have to do this and reinstalled on my 6 pro this way.

    I apologize for the delay!
I think this time it happened ... before I pressed Finish, on the laptop screen I received a text that 12.20 was installed successfully. So after I unplugged, I just restarted the watch.
However, this morning I had a Trail Run with intervals and saw that WHR reported about 10 more than my MHR.
So tomorrow is my control run and I will be able to say if it reads PCondition and VO2 max.
  • Thanks, Tron. Reading back, yours is a 6 pro rather than a 6x? (Solar and titanium don’t change the firmware file)

  • Thanks. So many threads to keep track of.

This is extremely weird; two different computers with different AV software, two different cables, transferring a file, successfully transferring an update for a different watch, clean install of Webupdater. Puzzling.

  • And now there is something completely different! :-)

I am also struggling with the lack of reinstall option.

Even if  two years have elapsed, but the latest Webupdater, which is dated as of 29/19/2020 was already available at the time of your discussion. So it is not about the change of Webupdater.

And I tested it on my wife's windows-based laptop too, on which there is a very fresh Win 10 install without any mock, and no additional sw beyond MS Office.

As a sort of funny thing: mine is an old laptop with Win 7, with disabled services and brutally modified registry. On this laptop Webupdater cannot communicate with Garmin servers at all. :-)
