After updating Fenix 6 Sapphire to 12.20 problems with bluetooth, wifi, ant+, freezing, battery drain

I had a fully working Garmin 6 Sapphire until I updated from 11.75 beta to 12.20

Now I can not sync with my mobile, the wifi no longer works, the HRM and Tempe does not connect. The battery drains empty in 1-1,5 days. And the watch freezes repeatedly.

Removal and reconnecting of sync to phone and sensors makes the Fenix connect for just a short while.

I have rebooted, downgraded to 11.75 and re-updated, reconnected. But my Fenix remains a catastrophy.

I have not had any problems with updates before, and always been puzzled my the variety of update related problems reported in this forum.

Now I have been hit by the ***. Happily my wife’s 6S works well after the same update from 11.75 to 12.20.

I will have to wait for a new update, as I do not have time for 3h of “support” from Garmin that leads to nothing for similar problems - as reported in this forum.

You can try the following. Download the Garmin Webupdater, close Garnin Express including the background process, connect your watch to the computer and reinstall the 12.20 with the webupdater.

Ce processus ne réinstalle que le micrologiciel. Ce n'est pas une réinitialisation de l'horloge.

Thank you - with Webupdater on PC the firmware 12.20 is transferred but not installed like https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-6-series/244701/how-to-reinstall-12-20-via-web-updater/1159776#1159776. There is no prompt to install the update.

I downgraded to 11.10 and installed 12.20 again, this time with Webupdater instead of Garmin Express. No change to the better, same issues.

The Webupdater for Mac by the way, does not even find the Fenix 6 Sapphire (tested on two Macs with current MacOS) and seems dysfunctional as well. I hope for a new firmware version that that fits my suddenly kinky Garmin better.
Or are there any other manoeuvres?

Same here, since 12.20 update my 6X pro have a problem with a big battery drain.... around 1,5 days.... :(

Same here. F6 Pro. Charged to full yesterday afternoon, noticed it had gone from 14days to 10days battery by evening. On waking this morning the watch had fully discharged and turned off.

Same battery drain problem with my F6 X Pro. I emailed Garmin Support to advise of the issue/bug but received the usual Garmin UK unhelpful response of a link to a help page on the website.

Finally after 6 weeks of interaction with Garmin Sweden i received a replacement Fenix 6 Sapphire. The first 4 weeks I had contact with an impossible support person who had its mind set not to exchange the product. Then I finally came in contact with Linus at support who came up with a decent solution. And now everything is working again. It was the first time in 9 years that I needed support from Garmin, and I hope the last.

So having got my refurbished Fenix 6X Sapphire I can report the following, it has been going for 18 days and still has 15% battery left.

My settings are as below:

No pulse oxygen, no wife, bluetooth on and notifications enabled, sleep mode during so not disturb from 10pm to 6am. All other settings as per factory and using a factory digital display face.

Activity wise over the period I recorded 18 activities, about half of which would have been using the GPS. Activities included walking, cycling and cardio.

I never got this much battery even when new from the other one, so in reality you should be getting 20 days between charges. So if you battery is going, as mine was in a matter of 2 days of so, then you need to get onto Garmin open a case and get a refurbished model. I believe there is an issue with the battery rather than just a software problem.
