Help repairing .fit file

Hi guys,

Just got a Fenix 6 and first activity went fine, second one not so good since could not sync to connect.

Did some research and looks like the .fit file could be corrupted.

Could someone by kind enough to try and repair this .fit file?

I tried with the free garmin online repair tool, but get this error:

The file could not be uploaded. The following error occured: The process cannot access the file 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\localuser\garmin.kiesewetter.nl\loadup\AB1H5537.fit' because it is being used by another process.

Also tried downloading the other fit file repair tool from https://www.fitfilerepairtool.info/ but when I try to download for installation Windows detects a virus and blocks it.

Any ideas?

Also I deleted it off my watch via USB so it can sync again, if I then place the fixed .fit file back where it was in the activity folder via usb will it then display normally or is this not necessary if it is manually imported to connect?

Sorry also worth pointing out workout was done with the HRM Pro chest strap and watch was in the bag so heart rate data was downloaded after the fact

Have you manually imported it into Garmin Connect?

I tried but Connect says it does not support this file

I contacted the author regarding this. This is a false warning caused by the fact that the software is a MS Access application. Nothing he can do to prevent the warning. I've purchased a license and I'm very impressed with what it can do.

Could you tell us something about this activity? There is no GPS data in this FIT file.

Nonetheless, I did a repair using FFRT -
AB1H5537-fixed.zip

Unzip the file then import into Garmin Connect using the import data page.

Thanks so much, it looks like my Garmin really screwed up on this one, the data is all over the place. Oh well never mind it is what it is. I went bouldering and didn't want to have to interact with the watch for every climb so just started a strength activity and left it in the bag, thus no GPS is normal. When it came to downloading HR data from the HRM PRO it got stuck.

There is a lot of information here that would have been useful to know beforehand. That said, the download of the data from the HRM-Pro should not have caused any problems. It might be worthwhile contacting Garmin Support, let them know what the activity was and how you recorded it, and the outcome. They might want additional information. The HRM-Pro is new.

Are you aware there is a ‘Bouldering’ activity available now? You’ll see it if you scroll through the list of Activities & Apps. Might be worth giving that a try next time.
