Auto sleep tracking finally on v12.10

After two days test,  i believe the smart sleep track is added in 12.10 release. although it is not perfect.  Here are my two days test results. The first day,  i slept early than my manual set sleeping time window,  and i found it was correctly recorded next morning.  And more surprising come in the second day test,  i took a nap during the noon time.  The sleep date was captured and record in my sleeping card.  Although it covered the night sleeping data instead of adding them together. However it is showing perfectly in Google fit app.  I use iOS and i shared my health data amount apps.  I will keep test. Hope garmin will continue improve it. I also hope the nap data was not recorded by iOS or Google Fit and write back to garmin.

Currently three major issues :  1. Nap data will cover the night sleeping data. 2. Nap data not very accurate and has a big delay to appear in the sleeping card. 3. Nap data covers the night sleeping data and it therefore effects the body battery because system consider you only sleep a couple of hours.

  • Naps are not tracked on Garmin watches.

  • I can confirm they are in 12.10 release. I can also confirm the overlap with the night data. Took a nap 1-3 pm. Was recorded by watch and showed up on garmin mobile (android). This morning, sleep data showed I was asleep from 1 pm till 130 am. Total hours including nap were accurate but data is shifted.

  • Pretty certain Garmin would have made a big thing of being able to track naps outside of the sleep window so not sure what you are seeing. I’m also not sure I fully understand what you are reporting. I think something is being lost in the translation somewhere. I routinely sleep inside or outside of my sleep window going to bed early or later (an hour or two) than 2200 and getting up early or later than 0600 and the sleep is detected fine. Occasionally if I can’t sleep during the night and get up for an extended, period the first period of sleep is recorded but then overwritten when I go back to bed and back to sleep for the remainder of the night. I think that might be different to what you are talking about? If, however, I have a nap during the day say around midday, that nap is not recorded.

    What is your sleep window?

  • I can also confirm that the sleep recognision is much better in 12.10. Looks rather exact for me last two nights.
