Delays in speed and pace makes it impossible to follow suggested sprint workout with Fenix 6X Pro Solar version 12.10 RC

I have posted some other threads about the delays in speed and pace on my Fenix 6X Pro Solar (software version is now 12.10 RC).

Today I tried to follow the suggested workout which was a Sprint workout called "3x3x0:[email protected]/h 55:00". Se picture:

The estimated benefit was like this:

I followed the instructions on the watch and ended up with this training effect result which I thought was strange... I noticed that the speedometer had really long delays while running.

I logged in to Garmin Connect on the web to look at the training and especially the pace diagram which shows targeted pace vs the watch pace. And there it is, the delays are there and mess up the interval training. The gray is targeted speed and the blue line is the pace that the watch shows. Several seconds delays. See this picture:

And if we look at the statistics for each interval we can see that the pace is totally wrong...

Garmin, please fix this...

  • Today I followed suggested training: 10minutes warmimg up at 135bpm, 4x 9minutes at 150bpm + 2minutes 120bpm, 10 minutes cool down at 135bpm. Predicted training effect was for Aerobic 2.5 and Anaerobic 2.0 which was clear to me, that I can't achieve any anaerobic points at 150bpm if don't get any even at 160bpm... So how Garmin could predict anaerobic TE 2.0 is mystery to me...

Next strange thing is, and it's not for the first, that on watch I should follow 135bpm/150bpm and 120bpm, but after syncing the activity I get 135/152/122 in the charts...

So my question is, if there is anybody about 40 years old, who get some anaerobic points with HR 150???

  • Yes, I got Anaerobic points at 148 and 153 bpm yesterday. But i did sprints just to test how the AE points was given. See my post from yesterday several posts above yours.

Sounds like you received a similar workout like i received today. But you got heart rate goals and i got tempo intervals. Did not receive any AE points today. Maybe i was to slow. Had a bad running day today and also lost about 5% of the distance (and speed/pace) mostly because of distance inaccuracy. The speedometer for the workout also had really long delays which gave me trouble to keep the correct speed.

    My suggested workout today

  • Yes, it seems similar like my workout. IMHO the problem is, that I slowly increase HR to desired 150bpm, so next time, I'll start running faster and slow down, after reaching the desired HR. Because I figured out, that anaerobic score reacts on fast big changes of rising HR what You got in the sprint activity...

  • Yesterday, my watch suggested 2 x 16 min @185bpm (threshold).

    Est. aerobic TE : 4,1

    Est.  anaerobic TE : 2.0

I ended the workout with 4,3 TE and 2.0 anaerobic TE.

At the beginning of each 16 min interval, I did a great acceleration to reach as quickly as possible 185bpm

  • Has someone already get an anaerobic workout suggested by the watch ? With anaerobic TE > 3 for example ?

Got recovery, base, tempo, threshold and sprint but the "Anaerobic" workout label never was suggested

  • Not yet, but im a little low in anaerobic so maybe im getting it the next few days.

  • I got a "Base" suggestion today. No estimated AE on this workout.

  • Why You get km/h shown on your watch? I can switch between heartrate and pace, but not the speed. Strange.

  • System > Format > Pace/Speed

  • Today i got this suggestion.

Ran it but continued to run some more when the workout was finished so the comparison is not 100%. Today i can confirm that disabling the 3D setting shortens the delays for speed and pace but i still think that the delays is too long. But, on the other hand, the measured distance is more inaccurate without the 3D settings enabled. Also the speed and pace is more inaccurate (they shows wrong speed/pace due to distance shortage).

I also added two short sprints. This time i did them without the 3 minutes standing rest wich resulted in higher heart bpm when running the intervals. The result is that i got lower AE points now compared to the run with standing rest (and lower heart bpm) before the intervals. This time i got 0.6 points for the first sprint and 0.5 points for the second sprint. Compared to 1.0 and 0.6 last time.
