Whatsapp shows all Messages instead of the most recent one

Since the last few days I have a Problem with my Fenix 6 and the notifications.
When I bought the watch and someone would send me a few messages it would only show the most recent message.
But now when I get a few messages the first one is at the top and I have to scroll down to see all the other ones.

That means, that all I see is the same few "old" Messages from the top and not the new ones, because they are hidden out of the display.

A small Example:

The Messages I receive
1. "Hello"
2. "How are you?"
3. "Weather is nice."

Before I would only see the most recent message (nr. 3).
But now I see all the messages (nr. 1-3).

I have read that people had this problem the other way around, but I don't understand why it would be better to see the same Messages over and over again
Just because they are sorted in the wrong order or wont show the most recent message.
Is this a bug, is it normal, am I the only with this Problem?

I hope I could bring my point across.

I have the same problem, everytime I get a new message, my Fenix 6s shows all the messages and vibrates with every each of them, instead of just notification me for the new ones. It is getting very annoying that every new message I get, my watch vibrates for all the past messages I have.

  • Same problem on vivoactive 4 (android). Very annoying!

  • I was also searching for the longest time,  even support was able to confirm rapid fire messages are not supported.

BUT it started working for me soon after the latest firmware. I can't explain it. It started working. There was a ģap of a few days where it stopped, then started working again too.

    Could be:

    - android patch, as there was one around the same patch

    - garmin connect, as there was an update then.

Fenix 6x sapphire on latest fw

    Galaxy note 10 plus

    Same behavior for whatsapp

So you're not having this problem anymore? I hope to find a solution too.

  • No I am not. Unfortunately I don't know the conditions exactly, and as stated, it went away for a few days.

Tbh I am not sure garmin itself knows. Support passed it to engineering and they stated it has nothing to do with garmin but how the phone stacks the messages.  Garmin Connect only captures the stacks. Sadly I didn't change anything and it started working. Likely some compatibility between connect and android.

  • I had the same problem in my Instinct.  I believe this has nothing to do with the Garmin app, but Android notifications itself.  I'm not a programmer but it's not appropriate to develop a product but blame on the platform for causing this problem.

If you compare the notification on Android (mine is 9), the watch is showing exactly the same message sequences as what was displaying on Android's' notification.

In some other wearables (e.g. Pebble), it also make use of Wear OS but I'm not sure how.  There should be a way to capture the incoming message.
