Fenix 6 Pro - 2 questions about the screen display

I bought this just over a week ago and am very pleased with it. I particularly like the way it can be paired with my phone so automatically updates Garmin Connect and how it automatically links to Strava.

1. When I first used it to record a hike the screen display stayed pretty much the same except I got my heart rate displayed in coloured zones at the bottom of the screen, plus meters climbed and distance covered. The next time I used it I didn't get the coloured zones. Instead I got a series of screens - meters of elevation plus ascent and descent - time of day - position on a map - heart rate - compass heading - and time taken plus distance. Where did my coloured zones disappear to? I can find nothing in the manual on this subject.?

2. on the lower RH side of the screen there is a box at about the 4.00pm position on the watch face with H/L - currently it says H8/L0. What is this about. Again I can find nothing in the manual.

If these are dumb questions I apologise in advance but any help would be appreciated.

  • 1. You can change screens and data fields per screen

    2. That's today's temperature forecast. H is highest temp and L is lowest temp

    1. Yes but I did nothing between the first two times I used it. I know you can change the data shown but I haven't seen anywhere how to get my heart rate zones back.

    2. Thanks.

  • If I read your post correctly it sounds like during the first hike you only saw one screen displayed the entire hike, but on the second hike multiple screens scrolled continuously, did I get that right?

You have full control over the screens using these button presses:

    1. long press the up-menu button, scroll down to "Activities & Apps" and press enter.

    2. scroll to the Hike activity and press enter

    3. Hike Settings, press enter

    4. Data Screens, press enter

    5. you will now see the various default data screens, you can navigate from one to the next with the up/down buttons, and add new ones

    6. pressing the enter button on any screen will allow you to customize that screen (it shows a pencil icon next to the enter button).  You can change the number of fields, which data shows in each field, etc.  This is where you'll be able to select the heart rate zone field.  There's a lot of options here, so you'll have to work with it a bit to get a feel for what's available.  Not all fields allow the same data options, so it takes a little getting used to.  To get the colored heart rate graph the entry you're looking for is called "graphical" and then something to do with "heart rate", forgot the exact name.  And I think it can only appear in the top or bottom fields because it expects the curvature of the watch face.

7.press the 'back' button to go back one step in the menu system, scroll down and there's an entry for Auto Scroll.  If you turn that off you'll display one screen only during the activity, and you can manually change which screen is displayed using the up/down buttons during the activity.  If you turn it on the watch will automatically scroll between all the data screens during your activity.

That's really helpful. I will give it a try and let you know how I get on!
