5x plus to 6x apprehension, help needed.

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade from my Fenix 5x plus, to a Fenix 6x Pro or Sapphire.. I'm 50 and need the largest screen for my aging eyes lol.. After reading posts and some YouTube videos I'm a bit apprehensive because of technical issues users have reported here, such as hr accuracy, the blue washed out screen using the backlight, BTW, my Fenix 5x plus had a blue screen using the backlight, so is that really an issue?... also the pace pro issue...

My 5x plus seems pretty stable software wise,(other than hr during hiking) but I need the bigger screen,I know people are here to report problems, but are there happy 6x users here?..

Thanks very much for any input.

  • I guess no one is happy with their 6x purchase lol...(silence tells me a thousand words)

I'll have to stick to the 5x plus I guess ,looks like the better watch.....shame the 6 series is so bad that no one is happy with theirs,i was looking forward to a bigger screen... I guess I'll wait for the Fenix 7...hopefully that will be more reliable...

    All the best...

  • 6X is more than great watch, I am very happy with it.

Big screen, big battery, no issues so  far.

  • The majority of people who post here complain. The happy users are out there using the watch,

I don’t have a 6X but I am more than happy with my F6 Pro Solar. My wife is happy with her 6Pro Sapphire.

  • I have a 3HR, 5X+ and, since December, 6X Pro Solar.

Since getting the 6X I've come to despise the display quality of the older watches and murky visuals of the sapphire glass. The 6X display is just wonderful by comparison.

Regarding features and performance, it's taken a long while for the 6X to reach a state of quality in firmware that might be considered in keeping with the price, but it's taken a year to get to where we are today. I would be happy to recommend the 6X now, but nine months ago I was tempted to return it many times.

P.s. I'm 58 as of last week, depend on reading glasses for close work, and absolutely love the 6X for clarity outdoors. Indoors I still find the gesture backlight to be useful throughout waking hours, not just after dusk.

  • Thankyou, this is great to hear : -)

  • Yes it's true that most people come here to complain or report a bug or other problems, it's great to hear from satisfied users/developers like yourself

    : -)..

  • Yes I guess its true of all Garmin watches that bugs usually get ironed out over the course of about a year, my Fenix 3hr,and 5x were the same on release, very buggy, and as you say, I wouldn't recommend those watches in the beginning either.

I looked (like you) at the 5xplus screen and the 6x screen, and side by side there's no comparison, the 6 looks far superior, my 5xplus screen looks tiny now as well.

Thankyou for your words... I'm feeling more confident in upgrading : -)
