Fenix6 @ Sauna / Spa / Wellness

Hello,

Let's begin: Are there concerns weiring the Fenix6 in a Sauna or Hamam?

I do not find any information about the max temperatures supported. So is it risky for the heath of my watch?

Are there cheaper Garmin watches which I should use and where I bother less when they break?

In fact I really like the feature "Body Battery" and I'd like to use it during wellness days where I suppose it should give me feedback about "recovering" or "draining" my personal battery. I have no idea how good this shall work by the way ;)

I would not be able to let a 600€ watch at the outside ot the sauna just waiting that me or someone else will walk away with it ;)

  • It would probably be fine, but also there's not a lot of benefit to wearing it while in a sauna/hammam, so I'd probably take it off anyways just so my wrist can breathe, and just to eliminate any possible risk of stressing or damaging the watch. Excessive heat can cause the waterproofing gaskets to wear out faster.

You normally wouldn't sit in a sauna/hammam long enough for your your body battery to change much anyways.

They don't offer any sort of lockbox for you? What do you do with your wallet and phone?

  • Ok, thx for reply ;)

So you would leave your >600€ watch outside of the sauna? so anyone could become to love it? ;)

  • Check the device information in the owners’s manual. Max operating and storage temp is 45C. Saunas and hammans are not good environments for any watch due to the heat and the humidity so are best avoided. Leave the watch outside with the rest of your valuables. As noted the short period of time the watch is off you wrist will only minimally affect any 24/7 data.

Wherever I put my wallet, keys, and phone, is also where I would put my watch. Ideally in a lockbox, not just laying outside for anyone to grab. Any reputable spa or gym should have a lockbox available for you to use.

Where are you putting your phone, which was probably just as expensive as your watch? Surely you're not bringing THAT into the sauna with you or leaving it outside for anyone to take, are you?

  • I haven't used my Fenix 6 in the sauna yet. However, I've used my FR645M several times. Sauna temp was max 85°C. The temp sensor from the watch was never reading more than 48°C. You're constantly cooling the watch with your body. I'm doing only short sessions (10-20min). Humidity should not be a problem. You can't have more than 100%.

  • I've been many times in sauna with Fenix 5, 5+ and now 6. I'm from Finland and usually have sauna several times in a week. 80 ° c is a typical heat.

In sauna the heat goes up and your hand stays on a lower level. Keep that in mind too. Also your own skin cools it a bit of you're wearing it. If a stay takes longer time I usually cool my Fenix with water.

  • I have been using my Fenix6X in a sauna regularly, no problems. Temperature about 75 degrees Celsius. It is interesting to see how heat affects to your stress level and body battery. If I stay a long time in heat, my stress level increases a lot. After sauna, it goes down.

  • "It is interesting to see how heat affects to your stress level and body battery."
That's exactly why i'd like to know if I don't kill my watch ;)
If there would be cheaper watches having the body battery feature i'd probably use those as the risk is smaller ;)

  • This would say I'd not use my watch during the entire "wellness"-day as I do not plan to go to the locker 8 times a day ;)

How is "body battery" working if the watch is not worn? How would a Wellness-day effect it?

  • I used my Fenix 3 in saunas all the time without issue. The added advantage of the F6 is I can connect a set of Bluetooth headphones and enjoy some music instead of the piped rubbish in the gym.
