Yes, same problem (do a search on this forum and you'll find several topics).
In my case I had the same problem since firmware 11.10 and sensor hub 7.12. The problem appears on each swim activity.
I made a factory reset of the watch and this solved the problem.
Had my first pool swim session today and my Fenix 6 also rebooted itself at the 40-42 min mark. I did not lose the activity though, it synced correctly several minutes later without my intervention. I was swimming with the HRM-Swim strap and I lost all the HR data (First time using this strap with this watch, used the strap a lot with my old Fenix 3 without any issue).
I dont know if this is an issue with the activity, the watch or the strap, I usually do open water swim with the HRM-Tri and never got an issue like this
I posted this on another thread, It's working fine now.
've seen some earlier posts about rebooting while saving a swim, seems to have started since the last beta. I have the HR-Tri strap that I do not swim with but it looks for it even though I turned it off on the watch. It never did this before the HR-Tri. Just seeing if anybody had the same problem still. I just did a factory hard reset and didn't save my settings (by accident, dumb ass move) but I'll be able so get a clean watch and try it again. Thanks
i did a factory reset yesterday. going for a swim tomorrow morning. will update after the session :)
the reboot happens when saving the activity, the fit files are corrupted.
by the way no need for a strap with Fenix 6, you can enable HRM on the watch with the fenix 6. You would need to manually enable this in the settings first time!
To me the reboot happened during the activity, I finished a lap and saw the Garmin triangle on the screen of the watch. After resetting nothing showed in the "last activity" widget, but in 10-15 minutes the activity synced itself to garmin connect without my intervention (It showed the full activity till the last lap I did before noticing I think, it might be off by 2-4 laps). The data (except the HR) seems accurate.
I know I don't need the HR straps on the F6, but I think the accuracy is much better with the straps than with the optical sensor.
in the last 3 weeks i have 10 poolswims. no issues with the recording....

That’s debatable. When I swim with just WHR I get a realistic looking result but I know it’s too high. When I swim with a strap - HRM-Tri but (just got a shiny new HRM-Pro - the recording is where I’d expect it to be. IMVHO, heart rate from the swim needs to be recorded from a strap at the moment. I can also get realistic looking heart rate date using WHR even if I wear the watch on top of my wetsuit sleeve!
Overall, I still maintain that to get realistic heart rate data during activities you do need a strap; just as GARMIN recommend. As usual with WHR, YMMV.
And to get back to the OP, not had any crashes in the pool or during my open water swims either last year or having restarted back in the sea again last week.
It has happened to me again today. On Christmas Eve I decided to go for a long swim. 5,550m and when I push "save" the watch crashes. It didn't save the activity but I could find the fit file connecting to my laptop. What a disgrace!!
Running latest software (13.10), but It has happened many times since this summer on different software versions. I'm tired of doing the hard reset, looking for sensors and setting-up the fields as I want them.
