Whatsapp- all messages?

If you get messages on whatsapp,  let's say 6 from same contact,  do you see all 6 complete message texts on watch, or do you only see message text of the last message recieved?

I can't find a complete answer or screenshot, and I have tried every setting anyone has ever mentioned on the web.  Between all garmin models,  and all Android phones.

Fenix 6 pro + samsung note 10 plus.

Much appreciated. It's driving me nuts only being able to view the last message in a conversation recieved.

Hi, I got the same issue. Looking at forums- it persisted for years. I talked to support (also mentioned your case- refered to you as fenix 6 guy) transcript is here:
    pastebin.pl/.../86e6838c

TLDR: I have a bug, you have a bug, but Luke from support does not have a bug. So it reproduces for random people and not all. Looking at your name it may be a factor of different language (for me its Polish language on watch and phone). Luke set up the case, hopefully they will look at it and do something about it.

I guess we may expect contact from them if it does not reproduce for devs. I have some experience in QA field, and I guess it may be possible we will never hear from them and issue will not be solved :) In that case I can think of workaround:

Create an app for android, which parses whatsapp (or in my case facebook messanger) notifications, and mirrors those notifications to something that garmin connect understands. Then all messages would come to the watch (this app would have to have minimised notifications to not be annoying).

  • I could've sworn that mine used to display all new messages, but lately it definitely only displays the most recent one.

  • Happy to be 'fenix 6 guy'. Hahaha

Yeah an app would be great. There IS one for whatsapp, some other guy has this too... but something feels wrong with having to pay for something that the watch SHOULD natively do, when documentation and support says so.

It makes sense.  Phone generates notification,  garming gets notifications,  posts them on watch - one after the other - as they come in. Like an append to a file. Currently its like overwrite file looolllll.

The watch has a lot of potential .

Let me try my oooollld vivoactive hr. Pretty sure that stacked messages (as I vividly remember the day 4yrs ago when it did. It was exciting times)

I bought this watch just for notifications Smiley

I had wear os, but battery life was unacceptable, then I bought miband - notifications worked just like you expect, but font was small and it was not ergonomic to use such a small touchscreen.

I bought garmin 245 to be middleground- wearos like notifications, and miband battery life. Now I have just a watch with battery life, and last notification Disappointed

I guess you could try ur old vivoactive - maybe it will rule out if its watch software fault, or garmin connect APP fault

For people who use facebook messanger I found workaround:

install messanger lite -> messanger lite notifications show generic SMS icon instead of facebook messanger, but all messages arrive (there is still 1 notification, but all messages are stack inside it)

  • Garmin should just stack all messages anyways, seems easiest option.

Grr. No dice with vahr. Went over all note 10 settings, for like the 5th time. Not sure what I can do. Guess wait. Would rather not factory reset everything to see if it makes a difference lol.

  • According to support, we should be able to see all messages from "rappid fire messages" (as long as we don't dismiss/ read them on the watch, which is the case)

    Reference ID:17653197K1

  • Support got feedback from dev:

"I did get the case submitted and heard back on it. The short answer is that is just the way the system works with Android.

Going into depth a little more, the watch reads notifications from the lock screen of the phone. When someone sends multiple text messages, android will stack those into a single display on the screen the phone that will only display the most recent message in the preview. What you see on the watch will match the preview from the phone, so just the latest message. The reason messages flash is that each one is the latest in the notification display of the stacked notification the phone is creating for all the messages from the person sending them. Only the one they end on will be shown in the widget on the watch.

    Example:

I send the following messages in rapid succession:

    • Hello
    • How's it going?
    • I'm having a good day.
    • Talk to you later.

Each one of those will flash for a second as they come through, but each one becomes part of a larger stack of notifications, so in the end the only one that stays on the notification screen of the phone and in the widget on the watch is the "Talk to you later." message.

I know that was not the answer you were looking for, but at least now we know. "

IDK about whatsapp, but facebook messanger is bugged.

All messages are visible on phone, only latest one is visible on watch. Facebook messanger lite has the same behavior- all messages are in 1 notification on phone, and there is no issue with it on watch. Just regular messanger is parsed incorrectly.

Here is sample video of this bug
