Fenix 6 Pro - delayed speed

Hi everyone,

have a Fenix 6 Pro for a few days now. While cycling I noticed that the speed is displayed (and recorded) with a significant time delay. If I start my bike after a traffic light and accelerate to 20 km/h according to the bike speedometer, the watch shows 0 km/h for 1-2 seconds and then adjusts to the speed shown by the speedometer. Likewise, when I brake, the Fenix 6 Pro still shows a too high speed for a few seconds. I have firmware 11.10 on it, tried various combinations of GPS, GPS+GLONASS, GPS+GALILEO and drove on a dirt road without trees or tall buildings nearby.

Since I had a FR 920XT so far and I didn't notice any such delay, I wanted to know from you, did you notice anything similar or maybe something contrary?

Would be very grateful for answers.

I had this delay in all devices, Garmin or Suunto, that I had.

The reason for the delay is, that the sensor values need to be filtered and averaged for a few seconds to distinguish between GPS inaccuracies and real changes in speed and in addition to show a smooth chart. E.g. if a moving average of 5s is used, the delay for displaying the values is 2.5s. The same occurs if running a sharp turn, the watch needs a few seconds for detecting whether it's an inaccuracy of GPS or if it's really a turn.

It is the same for all Fenix 6 watches, as said it is an effect of using GPS as source and trying to give as accurate values as possible. If you want instant speed the Garmin Speed sensor is an option: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/641230/pn/010-12843-00
